The US premiere of THE SECOND BEST SCHOOL SHOOTING will run Sept 17 - Oct 11 at NextStop Theatre! Just outside DC, just in time for midterms. 🩵

Heather Lanza is brilliantly directing the play in the round (!) and Ynika Yuag is script god (dramaturg), plus a phenom design team & crew & community partnership with March For Our Lives.

Been Zooming into rehearsals from Scotland and WOW what a batch of wildly talented Avas & Parkers. We’ve had such deep and juicy conversations about girlhood & guns, I barely noticed it was 2 am sometimes. 💖

If you happen to know anyone in the DMV, especially in the educational or political sphere (!), word of mouth has always been this tiny & mighty show’s best friend. I know it’s cringe, but I really do believe art has the power to change what needs to be changed in our world. And I am SO f*cking OVER daily mass shootings in America. Aren’t we all?! taken in NextStop Theatre Company by @thesecondbestplay

We collected charity cash donations in this tattered lil tampon box after each Fringe performance. Goal was to raise 1000 pounds for our community partners March For Our Lives and Gun Control Network. Photo finish: we hit 1006 pounds after our last show! 🥰 And v symbolically, the final 10 pounds were donated by a youth trauma psychologist. Super proud all the funds have been officially exchanged and donated. Thank you to everyone who chipped in, even a single coin. It added up. ❤️ by @thesecondbestplay

THANK YOU EDINBURGH FRINGE! 💖 I will never have words for how perfect these 24 performances of 2BSS were, how proud I am of this first best company, how honored I am by all our ⭐️ reviews, how moved I am that we just kept selling out, and how incredibly grateful I am for all the audience members who shared their stories with me after shows. ❤️

I used to think this play was cursed because of how difficult it has been to mount, but now I am SO GLAD this was the ragged path. Each step taught me something new about our youth or the nature of hope or, honestly, the military industrial complex and its horrific hypnotic narratives! Narratives I KNOW we can overturn! 😈

I hate guns, I love theatre, and after a month of laughter & tears in the most magical city on Earth, I somehow believe in us more than ever. 🥈💕🐝 taken in Edinburgh Fringe by @thesecondbestplay
