Hieeee, this is us :) Welcome to our little dance world 💃 . Thank you @anotherashwin for always being the best and helping us put together these videos. . #ShankarSisters by @theshankarsisters
Both of our foundations are rooted in Contemporary form. From that shared base, we offer two different approaches to regular dance training with us 💃🏾💃🏾 . UPDATE - @ananyashankar's class runs on Saturdays ONLY from 4pm-6pm. . @lavyshankar's contemporary classes focuses on structured, step-by-step technique development, while @ananyashankar's open style classes explores movement through contemporary and other influences in a choreography format. . Our classes are designed to help you train consistently, move with intention and enjoy the process ☺️ Registrations open for March. DM us for more details ✨ . Grateful to @circlecentrefordance for building a platform for Contemporary in the city, and to @studiomaya.chennai for being home for Annie's classes ♥️ by @theshankarsisters
Maybe this is how it feels to dream a little dream of music and light engaging in a dance of their own and you can do nothing but follow them where they take you ✨ - Thank you to the folks at @medai.thestage for giving us your gorgeous space to bring our vision to reality. - To @smartathi - yengloda idea va yeduthu, you really did magic with the lights & camera. Nandri :) - Edit by @_abii_bee - thanks for coming on board & killing it. - 🎵 - Thee Thee from Thiruda Thiruda. What an underrated @arrahman creation 😍 - #shankarsisters #dancingduo by @theshankarsisters
The August Series is here 💃 Four Saturdays. One Choreography. The idea is simple: instead of rushing through multiple choreos, we spend four classes with one piece. It gives you the time to settle into the movement, build confidence, and learn at your own pace. Every series ends with a class video. It's our way of celebrating everything we've learnt together while also exploring movement for camera. Miss a class? I hold at least one compensation class every month. My biggest update....this month onwards we get to call @studioloco.chennai our new dance home and i couldn't be more excited ✨ We begin this Saturday, August 8th. Details about timings are on the poster. DM for more information 💟 by @theshankarsisters
The OG birthday song and the cutest bunch to bring it to life. 🥹🤍 One thing I always want to do at the end of every series is shoot a video with everyone to celebrate everything we've learnt together. While I haven't been able to do that every month, I'm so happy we got to bring it back for our June Series. This time, we added a fun challenge to the mix and filmed it as a one-shot. My classes are all about having fun while training, but I also love sneaking in little experiences like this. This time, it meant beginning to explore movement for the camera - learning to make space for each other, finding your cues, and discovering the little choreography behind the choreography: who gives way, who enters next, and how everyone works together to keep the whole thing moving. So full credit (and full claps 👏🏽) to everyone in this video. You all absolutely smashed it. See you at the next one. 🤍 July Series begins this Saturday. DM for more info. 📍 @studiomaya.chennai 🕓 4 PM – 6 PM 📷 @kaybee_gram by @theshankarsisters
The July Series - Four Saturdays. Two hours each. One choreography. Lots of learning. Lots of paced out learning :) Bonus - A video at the end of the month - not for views, just for vibes. 😍 Dates: Every Saturday in July Time: 4 PM – 6 PM Fee: ₹2,800 for the full July Series (4 classes) or ₹750 for drop-in classes If you've been wanting to make dance a part of your week, return to movement, or simply spend a few Saturdays learning something new, come by. 🤍 You will be learning this choreography over four classes. So it will be ideal to sign up for a full cycle to get maximum benefit from the learning experience. If you'd like to join us, send me a DM to sign up ✨ We start this Saturday at @studiomaya.chennai 🌻 by @theshankarsisters

Meet the lovely humans from my evening batch & our shyam representative (the plant) ✨ This video was meant to be just for us - something to hold onto. But when I saw how it came together, it felt like something worth sharing. Because what you see here isn’t perfection. It’s effort. It’s nerves. It’s joy. It's support. It’s a group of women from completely different walks of life - doctor, lawyer, freelancer, research, marketing, sales, finance - coming together simply because they love to dance & want to put the effort in to learn and train ♥️ I’ve always wanted to be part of a community. I didn’t think I’d get to build one of my own. But because of them - and everyone who continues to walk into my classes - I can now say we’ve created a space that feels safe, supportive, and full of joy (and a lot of sweating & confusion, ofc😌). One of those days where I can say this with the biggest smile - I really love what I do :) 💃🏾- @acupofteainhand, @viva_aishwarya, @janani_0820, @mahimasamant, @dr.aamina_hussain, @_amritha.varshini, @areyouhavinganyfun_ 📍- @studiomaya.chennai by @theshankarsisters
Lavy and Annie have been dancing since I can remember. Since they can remember. If you must know anything about them, know this. Its hardly ever about the perfection of steps and its almost never about any algorithm. It’s all heart, just like they are. Like their song selections are. All of yesterday was an 80s playlist including warm up and cool down :D Their attention to detail is on each person in their classes, not on their choreography. They are most invested in you. Are you having a good time? Is your injury okay? Do you want a breather? You want to change the step to something that works for you-change it! Its about you, only about you. Thats why every Annie Lavy class is a like a mix of dance workshop and pajama party energy. You gotta be there to know it ❤️🧿✨ Multiple reels of dis choreo can b xpected thx. 😘❤️ PS. MY KUDUMI IS ITS OWN PERSON I LOVE HER 😂😂 by @theshankarsisters
