#PhotoDump📸 First, Congrats to April Fitzpatrick who give me Fitz. Your exhibition is dope and filled dope creatives. Food, drinks, and beautiful people. Had to support. Then we stopped by Mississippi Museum of Art to see “Photography and the Black Arts Movement” exhibition. Also dope photos. Then we headed to Memphis to kick it with the homie Kenyon for his birthday and frank d was the life of the party with truths. Last, I had an exhibition and talk at the Lincoln Parish Public Library in Brookhaven, MS. Thanks to Dr. Sessums, the library staff, and the Mississippi School of the Arts. Thanks for the dope weekend in Omaha. Thanks to the Union for making this all happen and giving me my flowers while I’m alive. Shoutout to DJ Mista Soull at 87.9 the CLTR and Michael Stryder for the interview. I learned some interesting things about Michael’s career as a photographer and his work with magazines such as XXL Magazine, Source, etc. Thanks to all of the models who allowed me to paint them and see themselves at the reception. My time in Columbia, South Carolina was well spent. I met some dope people, visited some interesting places, learn a hella lot about a culturally rich city, and left with jems. Can’t wait to go back. Thanks to everyone. Long list.

#photodump Over last three weeks, I’ve traveled from my hometown to Omaha and Columbia, SC with Birmingham, AL and Atlanta inbetween. I was nominated for Artist of the Year in the Northeast Louisiana region but didn’t win. Felt good to be celebrated and for member of our group, BCCNL, to win was a win. Stopped in Birmingham, @bhammuseum to checkout their collection, then on to Atlanta to check out Amy Sherald at the High Museum. Very much needed. Dope show. Last, I arrived at 701 CCA on July 1st for a month long residency. In one week, I’ve been all over Columbia, SC and experienced a variety of different things. The city has a very interesting story. This piece is in the “Power of Sight” exhibition at the Albany Museum of Art and on view until August 29th.

“True Value” - the value of the individual, power of being seen, the currency of it all. Gabrielle is from Memphis and modeled for me during an exhibition at Tone Memphis. Thanks to the Albany Museum of Art’s staff for making this exhibition happen and for everyone who came out to the reception. I enjoyed meeting new people, learning about Albany, answering questions for the kids at summer camp, and exhibiting with the other artists in the museum. #LatePost On Monday, I was encouraged to attend the Louisiana Art Day at the Capitol and feel grateful to be in the company of other amazing creatives. The capitol building is beautiful despite all of the awful things that are happening right in front of our faces. The bright spots is that there are people who are fighting for us. But we must also join them in making sure our laws continue to protect our communities. We do have the power. Don’t believe the hype. It starts with one step and leaning into the what you do. If we all do one thing, it adds up. If you don’t what to do, read or join someone else’s fight. by @theshellofvitus
