POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
In this video, I’m sharing why this rumor probably isn’t true… though I’m secretly hoping it is!

🧐 Clark Gable’s iconic shirtless moment in ā€œIt Happened One Nightā€ (1934) is said to have caused undershirt sales to plummet.

But is that just Hollywood legend? by @thesilverclassics

ā€œ...This man could shake from head to toe with emotion.ā€

- Elizabeth Taylor told the story of how, for the very first time in her life (thanks to Montgomery Clift), she started to take acting seriously.

ā€œI thought, l’ve got to find out what it is inside him that moves him so completely, so emotionally, that can get him to that state as George Eastman, not ā€˜Montgomery Clift’;
To make the sweat literally come out of his body. To make his eyes actually fill with tears... and, I thought, what is he doing?
I think that’s when I first began to act.ā€ by @thesilverclassics

My Way was originally meant to be Frank Sinatra’s goodbye to the music industry, but it ended up becoming something much bigger…

At 53, Sinatra was going through a rough patch. He felt stuck in his career and was even thinking about making what he saw as his last album.

Around the same time, Paul Anka heard a French song called Comme d’habitude and bought the rights to adapt it. Later, when he found out Sinatra was considering retirement, he went back to that melody and rewrote the lyrics, shaping them around Sinatra’s life and the way he saw himself.

That’s how My Way came to be, and it became one of the most iconic songs he ever recorded. by @thesilverclassics

Rare outtake of Marilyn Monroe and Tippy The Dog (Jeff) from her final, unfinished film Something’s Got to Give (1962)

šŸŽ¬ This move was an unfinished remake of My Favorite Wife (1940) - seen on a recent post.

After Marilyn was fired, rehired, and then sadly, the evening of August 4, 1962, 36-year-old Marilyn died, the project was shut down. The only finished remake came a year later with Move Over, Darling (1963). by @thesilverclassics

Marlon Brando transformed from his youthful 47 year-old self to the old-time gangster Don Vito Corleone in The Godfather (1972). Work done by makeup artist Dick Smith.

Marlon Brando wanted to make Don Corleone
ā€œlook like a bulldog,ā€ so he stuffed his cheeks with cotton wool for the audition. For the actual filming, he wore a mouthpiece made by a dentist.

CONFESSION TIME!
When I was younger and I saw this movie for the first time, I thought, ā€œDamn, Marlon didn’t age wellā€ā€¦ I really thought Brando looked like this in real life🤣 by @thesilverclassics

With only three films, James Dean @jamesdean became an icon of his time.
Today, we remember him on what would have been his 95th birthday.

Born on this day in 1931 in Marion, Indiana.

James Dean changed the image of the leading man. His style defined a generation, and he became a lasting symbol of youth and rebellion.

Did you know?
šŸ† He is the only actor to have received two posthumous Academy Award nominations, one for East of Eden (1955) and another for Giant (1956).

For EmilyšŸ•ŠļøšŸ¤ (@chimesatmidnight ) my dear friend and the biggest Orson Welles enthusiast. This one is for you.

I honestly don’t even know where to begin. I’m heartbroken by the passing of my dear friend, Emily. She was such a beautiful and genuine person. She became my friend from the very beginning of my account, always supporting me and thinking of others.

I’II always remember her red lipstick, her beautiful smile, her cocktails, and how deeply she admired Orson Welles.

Writing this leaves a knot in my throat. She was so young, only 45, and I still can’t fully process it. We only knew each other online, but we had plans to meet. And I can’t help thinking that if things had been different, if I had known, I would have done everything possible to meet her in person.

She reminds me that if you have something in mind, you should just do it. And that we must cherish the good people in our lives, because there are very few of them. She was one of those rare people. A happy soul, a good friend, and someone I will never forget.

R.I.P Emily šŸ™šŸ»šŸ˜Ŗ
