When your dog is fighting for their life, you do everything you can to help save them. That was our moment with Remi when she needed long-term steroids to control a serious autoimmune disease.

Steroids calm the immune system and reduce inflammation and for Remi they were life saving. We are deeply grateful for the veterinary care and the stability this treatment gave her.

Over time, long-term steroid use can also affect the skin and healing process. In Remi’s case, this led to calcinosis cutis painful calcium deposits in the skin along with hair loss. Right now our focus is helping her heal, keeping her comfortable and continuing to fight the disease she is still living with.

I’m sharing her journey for awareness in hopes it helps even one person understand what this path can look like or feel less alone while walking a similar road.

Every day, we keep fighting for healing💝

The last week has been filled with so many emotions and it feels like there’s been a dark cloud hanging over us. Russell has an aggressive tumor behind his eye that has grown through his skull and into his brain because of where it is, a biopsy is too risky so the doctors can’t determine exactly what type of tumor it is or how it would respond to treatment and what his life would even look like after treatment.

After meeting with multiple specialists I had to make the hardest decision of my life, but the decision I feel is best for Russell to keep him comfortable and focus on his quality of life. Russell is still his happy self and I’m going to do everything I can to give him the best life possible.

We can never ask God why this is happening, but only pray that he guides us through what’s ahead. Thank you to everyone who has prayed for my sweet boy. We’re going to live life to the fullest make every day count and enjoy every second together❤️‍🩹

One thing I’ve learned through everything with my dogs is that wellness is about so much more than what goes into their bowl. Natural sunlight, fresh air, movement, sniffing, exploring and simply being outside all matter too.

Let them lay in the sun. Let them breathe in the fresh air. Let them slow down and just be dogs. ☀️🐾🤎

Sometimes the simplest things are some of the most important.
