✨ Potato Crust Cheese Flan ✨

Now the temperature has dropped, I’m all about comforting home cooked dinners that are easy to make and I really enjoyed making this one! 👩🏽‍🍳

1️⃣ The Base

First, wash your potatoes and chop them into halves/quarters, depending on size. Keep the skins on because this helps to get a nice crispy base. I used about 7 small/medium Maris pipers.

Drizzle some olive oil, add salt and dried parsley, and air fry for about 25 minutes, until they are lovely and crispy and cooked all the way through.

Once they’re cooked, add to a pan (that can be used in the oven) or a pie dish if you have one. I don’t have one yet so I just used my stainless still frying pan which worked really well.

Use a mug to crush the potatoes and form a base. I then used a spoon to make sure that there were no gaps or holes in the base so the egg filling wouldn’t leak out. Also push some of the potato up around the edges. Allow this to slightly cool for about 10 mins before you add your egg mixture.

2️⃣ The filling

This was so simple - literally just cheese flan ingredients!

Mix your eggs, some milk, grated cheddar cheese, mozzarella, salt and pepper in a bowl. I also added some chopped white onion and onion powder into mine for extra flavour.

I used 7 eggs, about 150ml of milk, 75g cheddar cheese and 75g of mozzarella. I’d also add red Leicester cheese but I didn’t have any this time 🥹

Bake in the oven on 180 degrees for about 30-40 minutes, until golden brown and with a slight jiggle in the middle.

Leave to rest for at least 5-10 minutes before slicing for a nice clean slice.

And voilaaaa! You have a potato crust cheese flan.

This was so delicious just with some beans, which I spiced up a bit for by @thesoftaura.home

I need some help guys…

I bought these cushions from @homesense_ukie, and I love them, but they don’t feel right to me 🥹

Is it the cushions themselves? Like should we have gone for a more textured, linen type of cushion? Or is it the bedding?

I’m so not good at this 😭

Bedding is from @dunelmuk and I love it but I do feel like it’s harder to match decorative pieces with. Or is that just me? 🤷🏽‍♀️

Any help would be much appreciated 🥹

✨ Mini @bm_stores Haul ✨

Went into B&M yesterday just to return something but I slipped and all of these things fell into my basket 🤭

Starting with this runner which is absolutely beautiful 😍 fits so perfectly by our patio doors and I just love the herringbone pattern. Only £15, such a bargain 🤑

Love a new mug and my collection is very rapidly growing 🤭 these mugs are so nice and such a good size for my morning caffeine hit ☕️ and for £3, I had to buy 2 but should’ve got more 👀

I could just imagine how perfect this would be for an iced coffee🧋

Something practical 🪡 I realized I can’t just go and ask my mum to fix something for me and that I need to learn to do this myself 🥹 such a good starter kit for £2 and includes so much including a thumb thimble, seam ripper and needle threader! Such good value 👗

How unbelievably beautiful are these bowls?! 😍 I already had 3 but I needed more! They also have matching pasta bowls which are beautiful 😍 I am going back for those (even though I have plenty of pasta bowls 🤭)

✨ Dressing Room 💄 ✨

One of my main priorities when I moved in was my dressing room 🤭 💁🏽‍♀️

These drawers were kindly gifted to us by the developer. We bought a view home which had some furniture in it, so we asked if we could keep some of it and they agreed which has saved us some money 🤑

I was so surprised that it fit all my makeup in (I have sooo much 🫣) but actually I didn’t even fill the drawers! 😲

They work so perfectly for me so I don’t think I’ll buy another dressing table but I’ll probably upscale them by maybe painting them and changing the handles, or maybe even adding some beading or something to make them look much more expensive. What do you guys think?

Also love my new mirror from @dunelmuk 😍 it’s not quite bright enough during the day but I really like how it looks so I will keep it and i’ll probably do some nice panelling and lighting on the wall behind it anyway.

Ready for my meal planning era and it just got a whole lot easier 🤍✨

✨ Chicken Soup for the soul ✨

Something a little different today from my usual content 🤭

I love cooking and now I’m in my house, I really want to start getting back into real, wholesome cooking. I’ve been poorly this week and really fancied some soup so I made chicken and vegetable soup using chicken stock that I made from leftover whole chicken bones.

This was unbelievable and honestly, I could easily eat this every week! 🤤 details below 👇🏽

Ingredients 🧅

350g chicken breast
2 litres fresh chicken stock (can use stock cubes & hot water)
2 large onions
5 cloves of garlic
2 large leeks
3-4 large carrots
3-4 large potatoes
2 celery stalks
5 sprigs of thyme
Bunch of parsley
2 tbsp curry powder
2 tsp tumeric powder
Sprinkle of red chili flakes
1 tbsp olive oil
Salt and pepper

Method 📋

1. In a large pot, heat the oil and sweat the onions for 5 minutes over a medium heat - you don’t want any colour on the onions or vegetables, just nicely softened
2. Add in garlic and thyme - cook for 3 mins
3. Add in chopped carrots (chunky but not too big) and cook for 5 minutes
4. Add in chopped leeks and celery and sweat off for 7 minutes
5. Add in peeled and chopped potatoes, curry powder, tumeric, chili flakes, salt & pepper and lightly fry for 5 minutes
6. Add in chicken stock and whole chicken breasts - make sure the breast is completely covered
7. Bring to the boil and then simmer for 15 minutes
8. After 15 minutes, remove the chicken and shred with forks
9. Before adding the chicken back in, blend some of the soup with a hand blender - blend completely for a smooth soup or leave come chunks.
10. Add chicken back in and simmer for 10 minutes
11. Take off the heat and add fresh parsley

Serve with fresh crusty bread and butter 👌🏽

✨ Week 1 in our new home! ✨

Can’t believe it’s been a week already! We’ve settled in so well that it feels like we’ve always lived here 🥰

We’ve done a lot of shopping this week and spent a fair bit 🫣 we’re both really type A people so we’ve been on a mission but this is it for the spending for a little while now 🤞🏽

First up - cushions! The cushions on this sofa are all from @bm_stores. We love how these look on the sofa but I feel like we need more 🧐 what do you guys think?

Ignore the price tags 😂 We were deciding whether to go back and swap them but I think they look good!

We’ve spent around £1,500 this week (including our first full food shop) which I think is quite good but that’s it for now. I feel like we are trying to get things done quickly so that our home feels cozy and comfortable, but it may be time to take a breather 😮‍💨

More B&M cushions (apart from the front one) and the throw was a gift from my mum 🐻

These cushions 🤩 these are all from @homesense_ukie and the sofa is the Miami range from @dusk.com which is the most comfortable thing ever!

I wanted to do chocolate brown cushions (obviously 😂) but my boyfriend felt like we were doing too much brown (is that even a thing?!) so I let him choose the colour theme. I think he actually chose really well. What do you think?

I deffo think we need more cushions though so we will be going back for more. Homesense cushions are insane value for the quality 👌🏽

✨ DAY 1 ✨

Our first full day in our home 🥹🥰

And it was very productive 😅

We had our first furniture delivery in the morning from @dusk.com and the first thing on the agenda was to get the bed frame up. This bed is just everything we thought it would be 😍 we genuinely had the best night sleep 🥰

The bed frame is the Wiltshire ottoman in cappuccino 😍

Our mattress is the @emmasleepuk original pro which is just dreamy 🥰

Bedding is from @tesco and is a muslin material which is just so lovely and soft, and bonus points for not needing to iron it 💁🏽‍♀️

Whilst my boyfriend was upstairs single handedly putting the bed frame up, I was in the kitchen getting all of our new cutlery and dishes washed and away, organizing the cupboards and sorting our things into their relevant places so it’s easier to unpack. I feel like we smashed it 💪🏽

And to end the day perfectly, we set up our loveseats (which also came in the morning) into the lounge so that we could have our first night of hosting 🥹 my family popped over for a chilled pizza night which was just lovely 🫶🏽

The loveseats are the Brooklyn in cappuccino and the Miami in oat chenille. We just love them and are so happy with our choices 😍 can’t wait for the sofas to be delivered tomorrow!

In all the madness, I didn’t have time to shop, but I did a Tesco Whoosh order which was such a life saver. I ordered drinks, snacks and a few cupboard essentials for our first hosting night and it was delivered in literally 30 minutes. Definitely recommend 👌🏽

Next up on the agenda today:

✨ Set up the offices for work tomorrow
✨ Food shop
✨ Cook our first meal

Just a chilled one today and we’ve got more family popping over for dinner in the evening which will be so nice 🫶🏽

We feel so grateful and can’t wait to settle into our beautiful home 🫶🏽✨

Moving in day! 🥂

We finally completed on your home and have officially moved in today 🥹

It’s been such a whirlwind of emotions today. I’m so sad to be leaving my parents home but so excited to be in my own home with the person I’m spending the rest of my life with 🥰

Day 1 is not over yet… we’ve got lots of cleaning and organizing to do. Wish us luck! 🥹

@marksandspencer home finds ✨

Autumn homeware has my heart 🍂🤎

I’m loving all the warm, earthy tones coming through at the moment — from neutral cushions and textured ceramics to striped vases, tortoise shell glassware and those gorgeous little details that make a house feel more cosy.

The ribbed glass containers with wooden lids are definitely on my wishlist, and I can already picture the ceramic bud vases styled around the new house.

I’m trying to be good and not buy everything I see 🫣 but homeware shopping is making that very difficult 😂
