POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Last year, we were invited to be part of award winning Australian screen composer @dalecornelius_composer’s album “What Is Carried, What Is Left Behind?”, six works for string quartet, pre-recorded synthesisers and sound recordings.

While rehearsing and learning Dale’s tracks, we were absolutely drawn into his beautiful sound world, filled with intricate textures and layers. It was so special to be part of bringing his music to life, and to now share it with everyone!

As independent artists, we know just how much love, time and heart goes into creating original work. If you have a moment, we’d love for you to show Dale some support by giving the album a listen (link in his bio) or sharing this post. Every listen means something, and it would mean so much to see his music find its way to more people.

It’s been such a special journey, and we feel so privileged to have been part of such an intimate and personal album, with a kind and incredible composer who we’re now so happy to call our friend.

Thank you, Dale, for trusting us with your music! 🧡

What is Carried, What is Left Behind? is out today.

The seeds of this album were sown late one night in Montalcino, Italy. Walking past the Concattedrale di San Salvatore, I heard a metal door caught in a howling wind: a ghostly, percussive dialogue between the architecture and the elements. Recording that moment sparked a meditation on the wind’s invisible cargo, the fragments of ourselves we carry and those we leave behind in order to grow.

Six pieces for piano, string quartet, synthesisers and found sound, spanning 26 years: from A Whispered Dawn (Spencer’s Lullaby), written in 1999 as my first-born son fought for his life in Neonatal Intensive Care, to Bloom, a piece of awe, joy and new growth.

It’s a narrative chamber cycle, made to be heard from beginning to end. I hope you’ll give it that time.

Listen via the link in bio. The album is also available in Dolby Atmos on Apple Music.

My beautiful partner is playing tonight at George Lane in St Kilda tonight. It’s a celebration of her 20 year anniversary of her debut long player Alchemy - together with the launch of new music in the form of a reworking of Blue like the sky then add to this a preview of even more new music to come. Nicole will be back where she belongs - on stage singing her songs and connecting to her audience, creating community. Her skill as a song writer is only surpassed by her talents as a singer and front person - back in control of her musical being, totally authentic, ready to connect with and inspire her audience. I’m so proud of her tenacity, determination and talent. I can’t wait to see where this takes her and what lies ahead. This is a night not to be missed, it will be the start of the building of the new Shenko army. Come join us. by @thesoftcentre

Your support means the world to me 💙 My heart felt thanks to the incredible creatives who helped me bring this vision to life and for believing in me. Christian Scallan @thesoftcentre for recording, mixing and mastering Blue Like the Sky. Thank you for hearing the magic in this song and shaping her into this beautiful new form. I am so grateful for the care you have taken for her sonic landscape, with such beautiful programming and mastery in sound. I loved making her with you in the studio and my vocal sound is so good- thank you!! To Tony Marks @therealtonymarks for producing the video clip and for the art design. Thank you for all of your guidance, care and persistence in seeking to find the true essence of this song visually with me. It gifted me true alchemy in my heart for her new manifestation and for the celebration of the 20th anniversary of my debut solo album Alchemy. The video clip is simply gorgeous and the siren of the sea has found her home in the sun. To the musicians that played on the song, @tim.henwood on guitar, @cameron.mcglinchey on drums, @penni_jones_singer and @shantielizabethrose on backing vocals, thank you for your talent and enthusiasm to create music with me. I hear you all in the song and it makes my heart smile because we have traveled musical miles together across many moons. You all sound incredible!

What an adventure - I took over the gig 3 days before the start of shooting. First time on set, my first time running playback for music in a movie, my first time being the onset music superviser, my first time being the music editor for a film being shot. There is a lot of music in this movie!!!! I completed the role for all the principle photography. This is what happens when you say yes first and just fake it until you make it. by @thesoftcentre
