BLINDED BY THE SUN

A series of photographs by Nigerian-Italian photographer Kaine Harrys @kaineharrys

The photographer plays on the allegorical resonance of the image collapsing under too much light, just as Icarus collapses under too much sun.

“The Mediterranean sun felt mythic, and standing under it, I began thinking of the story of Icarus. A young man who, driven by hubris, flew too close to the sun and fell, drowning in the sea. I saw it as a tale about the seduction of light.

The sky promises transcendence, but the same light that dazzles also destroys.

The sun becomes temptation, the sea becomes punishment, and every small human gesture sits inside this eternal cycle of risk and abandon.”
