Superkilen — the public park in Copenhagen completed in 2012 in the Nørrebro district — brings together objects from more than sixty countries, turning immigration, difference and everyday use into a visible urban condition. Conceived as a space of encounter, friction and expression, the project resists harmony in favour of exposure.

In conversation with Martin Rein-Cano of @topotek1, one of the studios behind the project, alongside BIG and Superflex, the interview reflects on Superkilen as a politically charged public space, the role of conflict and participation in urban design, and why it remains iconic and contested today. taken in Copenhagen, Denmark by @thestancemag

For Issue 01, we entrusted Fabio Kalosh with opening a new collaboration with The Stance. Drawing on his vision and industry knowledge, Kalosh explores niche fashion brands that resist mainstream cycles and invest instead in quality, process and manufacturing.

His column, Off the Wave, maps a different pace within fashion culture: one shaped by continuity, material intelligence and long-term commitment rather than visibility or trend acceleration.

Quarticciolo Ribelle — an autonomous community project based in Rome’s eastern periphery — began in 2015 with the occupation of an abandoned boiler room and the opening of a boxing gym. Over the years, it has grown into an ecosystem of grassroots infrastructure: sport, after-school education, housing advocacy, health services and dignified work, built through daily presence rather than institutional programmes.

We went to Rome to meet Emanuele Agati, technical director of the project. Our interview traces how a gym became a civic device, how community needs shaped its expansion, and why Quarticciolo Ribelle offers an alternative to securitarian models of urban intervention based on enforcement rather than care.

Efron Danzig — skateboarder, model and photographer — is part of Violet, the collective founded by @williamstrobeck, where skating, creativity and friendship take shape through shared practice.

She has worked with Calvin Klein, Balenciaga, Marni and Vans, which recently launched a signature model in her name. Our interview looks at Diary#1, her first photo book published by @rawmeatbooks, skateboarding as a method, and modelling as a creative practice. by @thestancemag

Ante —  running crew and fashion label — started in Berlin with three friends, Julian Weigl, Christian Zellin, and Marcus Butler, who saw running as culture rather than performance. That instinct grew into one of the sharpest voices in Europe’s sport–fashion space, eventually connecting Ante with partners like Adidas.
Our interview looks at how Ante approaches identity, the internal politics of run groups, the balance between individual pace and collective rhythm, and what it means to stay accessible while keeping a strong core.

We created The Stance to treat street culture as a field of research: a way to observe how social change takes shape through movement, style, and everyday practices.

In Issue 01, this means following a running crew in Berlin that turns sport into culture; reading a public park in Copenhagen as a space shaped by multiculturalism, conflict and belonging; entering a boxing gym in Rome where sport becomes social infrastructure; moving through skateboarding and photography as practices rooted in observation and everyday proximity; looking at murals and installations that map the tension between nature and the systems that regulate everyday life; reading fashion as memory, belonging and self-definition.
