Are there real working shutters behind there? 🙏🙏 we will be trying to open them up soon to see. The man who replaced our windows thinks they could be behind there. Kind of scared that we will ruin the window but I really need to know. Almost every period feature was removed from the house so Im hoping so much they are being there!

Why would anyone cover these?!? Will never get it!

We pulled off the horrible ply wood, got a nice surprise underneath which is more than we could say for the other period features we were hoping to find! Got them professionally stripped (£70 per door) and I’m pretty happy with how they look!

Attempt 2 🫣

Our kitchen journey so far. TBC…

1) Layers and layers of wallpaper glued to the wall. Layers of carpet. Damp in the walls. Leaking windows. Barely any sockets or lighting. The kitchen was unusable.

2) I was always going to knock through the wall to make one big kitchen dining room. I bought a cooker from gumtree for £40, was totally ripped off and the oven didn’t even work. But at least we had a hob!

3) the workmen were juggling other jobs and would just disappear for weeks often leaving their tools which meant we couldn’t even work on the floor because some of the tools were too heavy to use

4) the man doing our windows and patio door had a serious stroke and there was no one to take over the company. We had paid out all of the money and couldn’t find out who his suppliers were. His lovely wife eventually helped us even though she had so much going on and months later than expected we were water tight with doors.

5) I ordered reclaimed wooden flooring from Woodjobuk but no tradey would lay the floor and one even told me to bin it! Eventually woodjob recommended someone who travelled from down south and he was amazing and I love the floor, so glad we did it.

6) Theres still so much the kitchen needs - more warmth and colour and layers. And the other side of the room - the dining room side is currently being decorated.

7) we ordered a kitchen online from kinbymowlem and I had measured and planned it all myself - harder than it looks! It almost didn’t fit but a magician joiner who fitted it somehow got it to work.

8) we previously had a table instead of the island but we changed it up and moved the table to the other side where we had a sofa and it works much better taken in Edinburgh, United Kingdom by @thestella_edit

A peak inside what goes on inside my head 24/7 🫣 … some mood boards for the spare room, the dining room side of the kitchen and the living room. The second two are just first attempts - always changing my mind and will probably change lots still.

The first one is close to all coming together. - can’t wait to finally get up the wallpaper from @hoviaofficial

And I’m so in love with the fabric from @houseofhackney it’s pricey though so not sure if the budget will stretch but it’s hard to see past it 😍

The room is a mix of a spare room/ office / and will probably be my daughter’s room in the future.

And the @alicepalmerco light shade has been on my wish list for so long - I’m in love with their fabric patterns - difficult to choose a favourite! I think it will make the room though 😍

FIREPLACE BEFORE AND AFTER
When we bought this house, the original fireplace had long since gone. We had no idea what was hiding behind the ugly gas fire that had been put in, or whether we’d find anything worth saving (we sadly didn’t).

We couldn’t afford to renovate this room for a few years but eventually saved up to put in a log burner which I love especially in the winter as this room is freezing. We started trying to renovate the fireplace ourselves but the walls were literally crumbling so we caved and got some help.

I’d love to try and make this room less modern so thats the next plan.

When we first bought our house I didn’t for a million years think it would be 4 years on until we managed to sort the hall. It was such a big job and our time money and energy all went into the other rooms that felt more important to get done.
It’s only now it’s been done that I realise how happy I am walking into my blue hall!
After agonising over the paint colour. It’s finally starting to feel like home when I come through the front door. Can’t wait to add all the fun bits now! by @thestella_edit
