Not popular, but did you know your cat isn't a dependent according to the IRS? 🙀 I guess that's why 7 million 'dependents' disappeared when in 1987 social security numbers were required on the 1040 … meow 🤓 their 9 lives were up! taken in Baltimore, Maryland by @thestitchingcpa

It’s open enrollment time for lots of employers so might want to consider contributing to an HSA.

Interesting tax fact : Maryland follows federal rules for Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), meaning they are not taxed at the state level. Loved stitching this @rachelbarridesigns shoe I scored from @pennylinndesigns as my little tribute to the NYC Marathon this weekend 🏃‍♀️✨
Fun (and slightly infuriating) tax fact: Before 2016, New York actually taxed menstrual products because they were considered a “luxury.” Yep, apparently someone thought comfort and hygiene were on par with yachts and champagne 🙃
Luckily, five powerhouse women filed a class-action lawsuit that helped end the “tampon tax.” As of today, about 32 states have ditched it - because being a woman shouldn’t be taxed like it’s a hobby 💃 by @thestitchingcpa

Picked up this @morganjuliadesigns 🤠 cutie online @the_courtly_canvas.
Accounting isn’t my first rodeo, but if it’s yours you can impress your friends with this fun tax fact: the paper in the post is 13 column green bar paper. Get is because it’s green and has 13 columns 🤓 accountants are so cleaver by @thestitchingcpa

Let them eat cake

Did she say it? Probably not.
Did she spend like she did? Absolutely.

This cake canvas from @pennylinndesigns gives a nod to Marie Antoinette, aka Madame Deficit, whose shopping habits could’ve bankrupted a small country (and kind of did).

But plot twist: she actually cut a tax — the “Queen’s Belt” tax - that would’ve sent money to her, and sent it to the poor instead.

So while the people were starving and the wigs were getting taller, at least she filed one charitable tax return.

History never felt so deductible. by @thestitchingcpa

Had a great weekend stitching in Maine at the @pennylinndesigns @morganjuliadesigns stitch weekend. Maine is the largest producer of wild blueberries and FUN TAX FACT 🤓: Blueberry 🫐 Excise tax is levied on all fresh wild blueberries sold, handled, or processed in the state. by @thestitchingcpa
