Welcome to the ultimate 80s dystopian ride: Escape from New York (1981)! 🎬🗽
Before The Hunger Games or The Purge, John Carpenter gave us the blueprint for post-apocalyptic action. Manhattan has been converted into a maximum-security prison, the President’s plane just went down inside it, and there’s only one man bad enough to go in and get him.
The Anti-Hero: Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken—complete with the iconic eyepatch, a cynical attitude, and just 24 hours to complete his mission. 🐍
The Vibe: Pure synthwave masterpiece. Dark, gritty, neon-soaked streets filled with absolute chaos.
The Legacy: A cult classic that proved you don't need a massive budget to create a timeless masterpiece (fun fact: most of it was actually filmed in St. Louis!).
If you love retro sci-fi, incredible practical effects, and badass action heroes, this is your sign to go rewatch it tonight.
👉 Drop your favorite Snake Plissken quote in the comments! "I thought you were dead..." 👇
