Wearing vs. Styling has become a hot topic lately. So what does it mean…Wearing your clothes is just that, putting pieces of clothing on your body and wearing them without much thought or effort. Styling is more intentional… it is a way to transform your outfit by showing some personality and character with minor tweaks. I give some very simple tips here, but the possibilities are endless. How do you style a look to make it uniquely you? Comment below! For links to this look you can find them in my October story highlights, my LTK (link in bio), or Nordstrom Links (also in bio) #wearingvsstyling #stylingtips #stylingtipsandtricks #stylingtipsforwomen #howtostyle #personalstylist #chicagopersonalstylist by @thestyleeditco
I needed a minute to process this… Yesterday was truly a proud moment and milestone in my career as a wardrobe stylist. To be considered a style expert and asked to do my own style segment on live TV!! Feeling very grateful and blessed. Grateful because I feel validated in career path I chose Grateful for new friendships I’ve made over the past few months Grateful for people who’ve supported me and believed in me Grateful to know so many amazing women who didn’t even hesitate when I asked if they wanted to participate in this segment Grateful to live in a city that helps foster creativity and gives me opportunities like this And grateful I believed in myself and found my own sense of style and comfort in mt own skin to give me the confidence to think this was possible. A HUGE THANK YOU: To @therealsamshapiro and @enazboutique for not only providing 2 of the outfits for the segment, but for also being my style sounding board, collaborator, and for modeling for me! Also to @__melissa_carter__ and @kameovintage for providing the vintage showstoppers in the segment and for helping outfit me for the show as well as your collaboration and modeling skills! I also couldn’t have done it without my models @juliannmbrown, @katerynagrod, and @janelcarrington. The clothes wouldn’t have looked nearly so good without you. Fabulous women modeling them. #chicagostylist #chicagopersonalstylist #personalstylist #chicago #wgn #daytimechicago #stylefile #tvsegment #holidayfashion #enaz #vintagefashion by @thestyleeditco
A styling appointment with me isn’t just about buying clothes, I also teach you how to wear them. There are 3 common things in teach in almost every appointment. See below! Links are in October highlights or comment ‘SHOP’ 1. Adjust your sleeve length. Cuffing your sleeves is out and using sleeve of garters (linked in bio) for a ruched effect is in! Not only does it make a blazer feel less stuffy, but it also helps with your proportions by drawing the eye to your waistline, thus elongating your legs. 2. Tuck in your shirt! If your shirt is hitting you at the hips or lower, it really should be tucked in. Most women tend to be self-conscious about the midsection area, but trust me, if your shirt is untucked, it’s cutting you in half and not doing your body or proportions any favors. 3. Add a belt! I can’t tell you how many times I’m in a fitting room with a client who doesn’t even own a belt. It’s such an underrated (and often inexpensive accessory that can instantly add polish to any outfit. Consider it your third piece, even if you don’t have a third piece because it can make even the most basic outfit look instantly chic! Do you follow these rules? If so which ones?
