Today when I woke up, I was grateful and especially thankful God granted me to see a new year but…then I remembered….It’s not my idea or definition of a Happy Birthday. I never understood the concept behind that statement. If it’s happy, great, but if it’s not , then what?!?Actually, nothing would make me happier than to see and talk to my nephew again; to receive a HBD text from him soon like he did every year. Pull up on me like he did. Time has not made this easier. It has made it harder and more difficult to comprehend this reality I’m in. Just 5 days ago, we celebrated what would have been his 27th birthday and that’s something he enjoyed doing. How do I enjoy and be happy celebrating my birth-day (s) and he can’t do the same? I guess that’s just something I will have to wrestle with. I thank you all for the birthday wishes and the outpouring support and love I continue to get. It does make me feel filled. I appreciate you. Hopefully this chapter will be kind to me🤞🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🫣🥹💆🏻‍♀️🤗🤗😁😔😳♥️ Happy Birthday to Me!

Day 3 of not having you here. Waking up, laying in a pool of tears, body shaking, head throbbing in pain. This is a nightmare I wish I could wake up from. Having to be strong for the kids and my Mom who is not doing well. If you know me and been around me, you know Q’s relationships, especially with his Mema. There are so many unspoken words Q. I know you knew what you meant to me, to us. Even through the arguments we sometimes had, the lecturing and nagging you about stuff, you ALWAYS had a place in my home and in my heart. You were my first baby, the first child in our family. We both had a love language that only we understood. As you grew up and became a young man, my prayers were succeed in everything you did and become the man I knew you were destined to be. I am heartbroken you will never get to live that. My heart is just so heavy. This hurt is unbearable. A pain of losing a kid is something I never thought I would ever experience. If knowing Saturday was going to be our last encounter with one another, I would’ve held you tight and never let you go. This family will forever be broken. I will forever be broken. My biggest regret is not saying I LOVE YOU enough Q. All our calls and texts should have ended w those words. You always helped me around the house when I needed it even though nothing was put together right and it eventually came apart but you were my go-to guy. I loved you so much nephew. How do we say goodbye to you Q? I don’t want to let you go. Thank you for always being a great cousin/brother to Dilynn, Rafael and Zoe. I am glad they had a close connection with you. I will miss you until I join you.
Thank you to everyone for the texts, messages on social media, calls, and coming by. We are suffering a tremendous loss and we will definitely need all your prayers to make it through. I am sending love and prayers to all Q’s friends and people who are also affected by his passing. He was a great person and most of all, a wonderful human being. Everyone who knew Quraan, loved him.
