Here we have some ultra drippy Mexican Arid camo. Unfortunately the end of the story is a sad one, although this was 25 inches pit to pit, this jacket was too slim for me. It hugged my shoulders just a bit too tight. It’s on its way to a new owner that hopefully can fit it properly. I don’t think I’ll find another one that will fit, so this was a sad goodbye.

Sourced from Mexico by way of Ohio, thank you to @thesurpshack for this amazing piece!!

From camopedia: A pixelated desert pattern was also introduced at the same time for wear in the arid and desert regions of Mexico. This pattern incorporates small patches of dark olive green and russet among larger swaths of off-white or sand and pink. This design also has a small flag-shaped logo embedded into the design with the letters “SDN” for Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional.

🚨 RARE CAMO SET ALERT 🚨

Sandy beans……. Brand NEW with tags Australian DPDU ranked and patched uniform set!!!!!! 🇦🇺

26ptp and 40 waist

It’s been a long while since I got my hands on a full uniform set, and between work/home stress AND a cold, this was supposed to be up last week. But better late than never!

Not only is this DPDU set ranked and patched, it’s BRAND SPANKING NEW with the OG tags! Even better, this entire set is big boy sized, which is even harder to find as a whole! This gorgeous set came to me very generously from my homie @monstersurplus go and give him a follow, he’s a pretty cool ese! 😎😎

Australia’s famous DPDU desert pattern was formally introduced in 2003, but went through 3 iterations: Mark 1, Mark 2, and finally Mark 3. The set I have seems to be Mk2 or Mk3, which both basically just take away the Mk1’s heavy yellow and (interestingly) adds mint green to both iterations. Sadly though, DPDU was retired in 2010 when the Australian military became in favor of adopting US-made multicam, which would ultimately evolve into the Australian variant multicam pattern, AMCU.

I’m still blown away I have a FULL set of desert jellybeans! The top is a perfect spring/summertime overshirt with its numerous pockets and lightweight construction, while still being durable. It’s ranked with an Aussie corporal DPDU rank slide, as well as being patched with the famous ADF “fighting kangaroo” found on so many of their uniforms! The pants are the same as the top too! Lightweight yet durable and perfect for this brutal summer we’ve been having out in the big OH!

Another amazing addition to the collection! 😎😎 by @thesurpshack

Holy cool multicam variant Batman!……issued and well-worn Australian AMCU field shirt!!!! 🇦🇺

25ptp

After a little digging (but really a random DM from a cool ass dude) I’ve finally come across another camo pattern in my size that I don’t see too often: Australian AMCU! Popular, of course, due to Australia’s stricter laws on ownership and usage of Aussie milsurp (you can own but can’t impersonate a member of their armed forces), Australian surp is also just harder to find in larger sizes in general, so I’ve always gotta pick some up AND in the more modern AMCU! Thanks so much to my homeboy @mr_blufor91 for the random DM and asking me if I’d be interested, I’m ALWAYS interested in large sized Aussie goodies! 😎😎

Like many NATO-allied nations these days, Australia was another country to hop on the “Multicam but with a twist” bandwagon, just like the Brits, the Canadians, more recently the Germans and the French, and now the Aussies! AMCU was introduced in mid-2014 after decades of its usage of the popular distributive pattern camouflage uniform (DPCU). While it’s similar to the Crye-designed Australia Multicam Pattern (AMP), it actually keeps the original DPCU color palate and adds one extra color! It was eventually seen fully integrated in 2019, along with the modern variant of DPNU (their naval pattern) being replaced by MMPU and being fully integrated in 2021.

Some hate the pattern, but I love it! Dated 2024, this is a very simple and lightweight field shirt with two zippered chest pockets and an arm pocket on each sleeve! Of course it still has The Australian Army logo sewn into the left sleeve and has hook/loop panels for unit patches and the likes!

Shoot me a DM if you’ve got a pair of 105-110R AMCU field pants! 😎😎 by @thesurpshack

Fractured but whole………. Issued BIG sized Swedish M90 Splinter field pants!!!! 🇸🇪

44” waist

Ahhh Sweden. Whether it’s the supercars you produce or the metal bands you churn out, you can’t do any wrong. And the same goes with your camo patterns, specifically this gorgeous pair of M90 Splinter pants! Dated 1997, they’re HUGE but the pants run a bit longer than a 30 inseam so they’re perfect for around your hips rather than around your waist. I got these pants from my good buddy @gorilla_outfitters go and check his stuff out he always has something cool or interesting in stock! 😎

This pattern is prolly the most well-known “quirky” camo pattern in the community, as the Swedish armed forces took very heavy inspiration from the German WWII Splittermuster (Splinter) pattern and initially wanted to use the pattern for their military vehicles until the development team realized it worked very well on their own troops. So, it was implemented in 1989 and is still in use to this day with a slightly updated pattern to incorporate the three crowns national symbol of Sweden.

What’s super cool about these pants are the pockets and how secure they are! Hand pockets covered by fabric flaps that’re secured by snap closures (similar to CADPAT pockets) as well as the cargo pockets being secured by big, chunky zippers! Of course the pants are super durable and the pants have zippers to incorporate boots!

This pair of pants completes my M90 splinter uniform! All that’s left to do is hunt down its desert brother, M90K! 😎😎 by @thesurpshack

Classic cool…….. used and issued KAZ-03 Field Jacket!!!! 🇦🇹

28-29ptp(!!!)

It’s been a little bit of a minute, but I’m back with another cool addition to my “everyday utilitarian” surp collection with this massive KAZ-03 jacket! While the zipper needs a little TLC and a button put back on, this is otherwise another cool KAZ piece I’ve been hunting for a minute!

Even though it’s still hot as satan’s gooch, the season of changing colored leaves and pumpkin spice lattes is gonna be around the corner as soon as we know it and I figure I show this guy off a little early!

Dated 2006, this jacket has not two, not four, not even six, but 8 whole pockets on it!! Two chest pockets, two sleeve pockets, two waist pockets, and two inner chest pockets! More than enough to put a CCW in one, house and car keys in another, and a bag of chips in the chest pocket! Not to mention it’s got a rank slide, two hook and loop panels on the sleeves, and that famously durable Austrian KAZ construction we all know and love SO much!

All’s left to find now are the pants and the Bundesheer copy of the famous M65 jacket. Maybe even keep an eye out for the liner too! 😎😎 by @thesurpshack

🚨 UBER RARE CAMO ALERT 🚨

Digital Flecktarn……. Issued, ranked and PATCHED Bulgarian M18 field shirt!!!!!! 🇧🇬

25-26ptp

Oh look, milsurp from a country I haven’t gotten from for a solid minute! This recently acquired Bulgarian M18 field shirt is everything a surp collector wants: ranked, patched, in good shape, and the perfect fit for the wearer! This comes from my good surp homie @gunsareprettycool, go and check him out for big guy sized surp! He just got a rather cool set of KAZ-03 that’s desert flavored too, neat-o! 😎👀

From what I found at @camopedia, Bulgarian M18 was introduced by their Ministry of Defense in, you guessed it, 2018. It became the current issued pattern issued to the country’s armed forces after years of utilizing splinter-based patterns up till USSR collapse in 1991. Then switching to a five-color palatted DPM pattern when they became part of NATO in the early 2000’s. And then here we are, M18 and all its German Flecktarn-inspired glory. Interestingly enough, the Bulgarian Air Force utilizes the same pattern but with a much more grey dominated palate.

You can hate Flecktarn, but you can’t hate this! Not only is this manufactured 2017(likely a very first production run piece?) but it’s in GREAT shape! She’s got Velcro pockets for days for all your goodies, hook and loop panels, and not to mention this is actually a NAMED and ranked piece too! I believe this is akin to a colonel if my military rank and structure of their armed forces is correct (let me know if I’m wrong)

Overall a SUPER cool and modern piece added to the ever growing collection/addiction 😎😎😎 by @thesurpshack

Comfy daily driver…….. issued Austrian KAZ 03 field shirt!!!! 🇦🇹

25ptp

It’s a staple in any surper’s collection, it’s iconic, it’s comfortable, it’s KAZ-03! It only took me almost 3 years to get a field shirt to FINALLY add to my collection and it’s so nice for the cheap price! This lovely daily driver shirt came to me from @constitutional_republic_supply and I can’t wait to find a pair of the pants! 😎😎

If you don’t know this shirt, you’ve been living under a rock! But seriously, this shirt was introduced to the Austrian Bundesheer in 2003 to replace the rather button-heavy and slightly dated KAZ-75 and since its introduction, has been one of the more iconic and desirable pieces of surp due to its affordable cost, comfort and durability!

This shirt is simple but gets it done 🤷🏻‍♂️ two vertical zippered chest pockets, a singular zippered sleeve pocket and some hook and loop panels for a nametape or unit patches!

Overall I LOVE this shirt and I can’t wait to get the pants and the boots too! 😎😎 by @thesurpshack

🚨 TWO FOR ONE POST 🚨

French M81…… issued French CCE combat smock and brand new without tags French CCE T4S2 combat pants!!!! 🇫🇷

25ptp and 38-40 waist

What better way to kick off July 4th than show off France’s copied homework camo from their American counterparts: French CCE! If you don’t know, any French surp is considerably hard to find in larger sizes at the moment due to the country giving their uniform surpluses to gear Ukraine in their conflict with Russia. But that didn’t stop me from getting this smock from my newest surp homie @brandosurplus and the pants I’ve had for quite some time!

In case you don’t know: French CCE is one of the very cases of a woodland pattern being designed AFTER the introduction and use of a desert pattern, specifically the French desert “Daguet” pattern from the very early 90’s! This camo is basically a heavily-inspired American M81 pattern with the color palate basically being a neat 1:1 copy but retaining more of a “striped” pattern rather than the blotches we all know and love from God’s plaid, M81!

This is easily my gear in case of a SHTF scenario! The smock isn’t the T4S2 variant that can take elbow pads but that doesn’t stop it from being a killer piece of gear! A total of six chest pockets, a full-length stormflap, a giant back pocket and hook-and-loop panels all over easily makes this a banger smock for foul weather!

The pants are the T4S2 cut and are an easy four-season pair, with built-in knee pads, multiple leg adjustments straps, giant cargo leg pockets, a set of suspenders for the cold weather, and Velcro waist adjustments for that perfect fit!

My French collection is nearing completion and I can’t wait till I get my hands on the T4S2 CCE field shirt and combat smock! 😎😎😎 by @thesurpshack

Royal blue……. Basically new British royal navy operational trousers!!!! 🇬🇧

~40 waist

Something quick and minimalist but very stylish and practical from the daily driver pieces in my surp collection! These Royal Naval operational trousers are very simple in their look and design, but these pants are fantastic for windy or rainy conditions and they make even BETTER work pants thanks to their durable construction and fire resistant properties!

These pants have an almost 1:1 cut that the British MTP combat pants have, but with a slightly heavier material and being fire retardant. Two good sized hand pockets, two big ol honky tonk cargo pockets, and of course a booty pocket for your wallet! Again, these pants aren’t standout-ish with the looks but they’ll get you through the work

On and they attract pet fur like it’s no tomorrow so be weary and LINT-ROLL before you head out if you’ve got cats or dogs! 😂 by @thesurpshack

🚨RARE CAMO ALERT 🚨

Fractal blue…….. issued Romanian M2017 naval variant field shirt!!!!!! 🇷🇴

~24-24.5ptp

It’s been a while since I added a naval pattern to the ol SurpShack closet, but I couldn’t say no to such a good looking piece! Not only do I love the modern cuts that these Romanian M2017 field shirts and its respective counterparts offer, but I can NEVER say no to a good looking blue camo! This piece came to me from my good man @gorilla_outfitters, go and check him cause word on the block is he’ll have some cool stuff coming for the July 4th holiday! 😎👀

Essentially, this blue dominant variant of M2017 was introduced to the public in 2016-2017 along with its army and Air Force variants and is issued to Romania’s maritime and naval forces. It’s unique in the fact that the pattern is made up of fractal shapes rather than being a modern digital pattern.

Next up is to patch this guy! Aside from no patches, this is a decent shirt to wear when it’s much milder or going into fall or spring (not 95+ and humid here in the big OH), it’s got a full length zipper, Velcro stormflap, multiple pockets, multiple hook and loop panels for any fun patches, name tape, etc. and of course vertical pockets that are perfect for keeping your EDC essentials in close reach!

Overall a super cool piece and another naval pattern added to the collection! 😎😎 by @thesurpshack

Foamy forearms…….. issued British MTP UBAC with forearm inserts!!!! 🇬🇧

26ptp

Now here’s an interesting piece of British milsurp I’ve had for a minute! Sure this looks like you typical run of the mill MTP UBACS shirt, but this one has a feature that’s very cool and something I’ve never seen in a UBAC or any type of combat shirt: foam forearm inserts built INTO the sleeves!

While this basically is a typical combat shirt with some big hook and loop panels and the little Union Jack flag on the left sleeve, the foam inserts really make this stand out! The inserts really help reduce any strain or pressure you put on your forearms when you’re lying in a prone shooting position or just pushing a home appliance into a better spot in the kitchen!

Granted, the sleeves are quite a bit heavier than a regular UBACS sleeves and the material is a bit heavier so this honestly makes a good early fall working shirt if you’re doing stuff outside! It’s a cool and welcome addition to my British milsurp collection 😎😎 by @thesurpshack

French quality…….. issued French F2 olive drab field jacket!!!! 🇫🇷

25-25.5ptp

Not having posted a more “plain” piece of gear for more lowkey daily use since last year with my Buffalo thermal smock, I figured I dedicate these next couple review posts to some of the more “simple” surp pieces in my collection, starting with this lovely French F2 field jacket! Thanks so much to @constitutional_republic_supply for supplying me with more large-sized French surp!

This shirt is a perfect piece of daily wear whether you’re out running errands, working and need a protective outer layer, a plain fall season shirt, or just simply wanna lounge around in a cool piece of French military gear!

It’s not as comfortable as other nation’s various field shirts/jackets, but this F2 gets it done for me! Zippered chest pockets hold my EDC essentials, waist pockets secured with snap closures and big enough for your CCW pew-pew, and a couple of hook and loop panels for a name tape or a rank tab!

While mine has sleeves that are a bit short for my wingspan, this works as a perfect fall season work shirt for me and anything French in my collection is ALWAYS welcome! 😎😎😎 by @thesurpshack
