Wait Well....

Has been the season God has had me in over the past few years. Though the pruning process is hard and lonely at times I see the fruit of waiting.

This past weekend I competed for the second time in the @ultimateinternationalmiss competition and was top tier. Brandis and her staff are simply sugar. The professionalism and open and honest communication sincerely make the pageant week worth your time. The outcome of the competition is as follows.

💎1st Runner Up Ms./Mrs. Division (2nd time)
💎Presidential Volunteer Service Medal (Silver)
💎Jessica Nunley's Servant Leadership Scholarship Recipient
💎5 pounds lighter 😂

Placing 1st runner up for the second time is tough. You question everything. I mean everything...

A few people mentioned to me "your bigger than a crown" of course. EVERYONE is bigger than a crown. This placement was hard because of the road that was taken to get here. I almost didn't even try because of my health and a few other variables. But as always GOD MADE AWAY. For that, I'm forever grateful.

First I want to thank Jesus. There is no me without him.. Life has taught me people come and go BUT he is CONSISTENT. He hasn't failed me yet. I would encourage anyone to try him for YOURSELF.

I want to thank my parents for raising me to serve my community, advocate for those in need and speak life to the world... I am because we are I am....... Nobody is more blessed than me. Nobody ♥️🥹

Introducing the Virginia Regency International Assistant Director, Taia L.C. Reid!

Taia L.C. Reid is a dedicated mother, advocate, mentor, coach, and educator. Growing up in a military family, she received her education from various public school systems, ultimately graduating from Tabb High School in 2004. Her academic journey continued at Thomas Nelson Community College and Saint Augustine’s University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Motivated by a desire to make a difference in the lives of college students, she pursued further education, earning a Master of Science in Education Leadership with a focus on Higher Education Administration in 2013. During this time, she also obtained her Master Mentor Certification through the College Reading and Learning Association, graduating with honors and active membership in the Golden Key honor society.

Since graduating, Taia has held various Assistant Director roles at Old Dominion University before transitioning to her current position as Academic Counselor and Program Coordinator for the TRiO Upward Bound program. As a passionate advocate for education, she is committed to assisting high school students in preparing for college while providing support and resources to pre-college students and their families. Outside of work, Taia finds joy in coaching tumbling, competitive cheer, traveling, volunteering, and attending live sporting events, particularly as a devoted Baltimore Ravens fan.

Above all, Taia’s greatest source of joy is her son, Zion, who serves as her inspiration and driving force. She founded Zion’s Cradle, an organization dedicated to supporting single mothers pursuing higher education, as a testament to her commitment to empowering women and children. Additionally, Taia is an active member of the Messiah Center of Hampton and a missionary. She lives by the words of Dr. Cornel West, “You can’t lead the people if you don’t love the people. You can’t save the people if you don’t serve the people,” embodying a deep desire to effect positive change on a global scale within her community.

Last week I had the opportunity to participate in the 2026 Council for Opportunity and Education Policy Seminar: Walk The Hill the event in Washington D.C.

Equality in education for ALL students in our K12 systems. Many students are beis personal to me. As a higher education professional and first generation college student I understand the diverse needs for students in our ever changing society. Today, I want to encourage everyone to advocate for changeing pushed through and lack the necessary educational foundation to make it in college or trade school. There is a massive deficit in support, access, and resources to create generational change.

This experience reminded me that advocacy is not optional, it’s necessary. I will continue to use my voice to ensure every student has access to the opportunities they deserve. The work continues. by @thetaialc

True confidence isn’t loud. It doesn’t beg for approval or shrink for comfort. When you know who you are and whose you are, validation becomes optional. Build from within. Always remember these three things:

After winning my first and only Natty (National Championship) in 2022 I decided to hang cheer up.

I started coaching cheer in 2015 and put my foot on the gas and didnt look back. I wanted it all, and boy did I get it. Countless competitions, Board Member Positions, football games, community performances and a few national championship appearances. I was tired. I didnt have anything else left to give.

Soon after, I acquired a few clients for private tumbling sessions and prep for cheer tryouts. I was satisfied but knew I would find my way back to a team one day. Eventually I started judging and consulting with teams within the community and found joy in those small but impactful interactions.

Then something happened, last spring @iammrs_garrett and I had a conversation. She knew I wanted to get back out there but I wasn't sure how. My life was different. I wasnt sure where coaching would fit.

Soon after, I judged tryouts for GMS, and was hooked. I found a team of girls that were diamonds that needed a little more polishing. They were shy, strong, beautiful, and eager. True Gems.

Today we won 2nd place in the Bay Rivers District Middle School Cheer Championship.

I shared all of this because its important to know PURPOSE WORK never leaves you. It may look different for a while. You may even have to pause, but things that you are destined to do always find a way back.

God never misses...he knows EXACTLY what he is doing. Trust his process and WAIT WELL.

As graduation season comes to an end, I would like to share the full-circle moments I have experienced over the past few weeks.

I have had the honor to coach and mentor each one of these beautiful girls. All from various walks of life but very similar. They all have remained focused and resilient in adversity. Became leaders and change agents in their environments and insisted on achieving their goals with guidance and wisdom from their community.
Im forever grateful, that I have been able to be a voice that has spoken life and love in a world that degrades and dismisses women. Our youth are the future, every day we have the option to build or break them.

Happy Graduation Malia, Gigi, and Jayla. You all truly inspire me and those around you to stay the course and keep the faith.
