POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
In 2025, I had the honor of being a contributing author to an anthology featuring stories by women who have lived through very hard things: Women who learned from their pain and rose, again and again, from the ashes.

Writing a chapter for @soulspeakpress Deserts to Mountaintops: Out of the Ashes became far more of a healing journey than I ever expected.

In my chapter, I share my story of healing from an extreme case of syringomyelia — a rare spinal cord disorder that could’ve left me paraplegic, or worse. I write about the long road of learning how to live again in a body that once felt fragile and unpredictable.

I also write about tending to childhood wounds and spiritual trauma: The pain of being hurt within religious spaces, navigating a broken relationship with my parents, and the journey of finding my way back to God and faith.

My chapter explores the beauty that darkness can hold — and how the most painful seasons of our lives can become holy ground, capable of sprouting new life that we never imagined.

Writing it asked me to look my old wounds in the eye, practice radical honesty, use my voice with vulnerability, and excavate the meaning and lessons hidden within everything I lived through.

It is my hope that my story, alongside the stories of the other remarkable women in this collection, will remind anyone who reads it that they are not alone in the darkness they may be navigating.

✨There is always light.
✨There is always hope.
✨There is always healing.
✨There is always reclamation.

More soon — the book launches at the end of January 🪽🤍 by @thetangledandtrue

The Tangled & True is founded on three pillars because I needed all three to come home to my voice, my body, and God.

When trying to return to church didn’t feel safe and I still grieved the pain of broken family relationships, I found healing that came through telling the uncomfortable truth about my story to get out what I suppressed and realize that God wasn’t the problem — it was only the control that wore a costume they called God.

Body and mindset work alone also wasn’t enough. After healing from my spinal cord surgeries, I needed to bring my nervous system back into balance through neuronutrition as I healed (and am still healing) the remainders of my chronic Illnesses.

The integration of it all has been the medicine.

If you’re here for any of it: the reconstruction, the truth-telling, the writing, or the search for a connection to God you can actually breathe around — you’re in the right place. by @thetangledandtrue

Some stories take a decade to be ready to tell. This is one of mine.

If you’re walking through your own version of “this should not be survivable” right now, know that suffering can be sacred preparation.

The Spirit doesn’t leave you in the dark — She hovers over it, like She did at the beginning of everything.

More to come on what I learned and how I rebuilt. But today, I just wanted to tell you the story.

If this finds you mid-unmaking, I hope it gives you a glimpse of what waits on the other side.

Let it ride, baby 🌀

Things aren’t always as they seem, and what we see isn’t all there is. Life is the eternal paradox, and you’re allowed to be more than one thing at once.

We can assign meaning to what we see, but can we be brave enough to peel back the veil? To see what’s behind, and what’s behind that? To know that not everything has to make sense, and in that, everything makes sense?

Every piece becomes a part of the whole, and the whole is part of every piece. Everything and nothing. Perfection and imperfection. The duality converging into the non-dual.

You’re part of It, and you’re also It 🫧 by @thetangledandtrue

🫶🏻 When it feels like the world is on fire, here’s some friendly reminders to:

Read banned books.
Question the mainstream narrative.
Buy analog, not digital.
Not outsource your brain to AI.
Redefine God on your own terms.
Connect with what is beyond you.
But also is part of you.
Remember that the Kingdom is within you.
Trust your intuition.
Put the screens away before bed.
Get morning sunlight in your eyeballs.
And sunshine on your skin.
Look strangers in the eyeballs and smile.
Know that you’re allowed to reinvent yourself at any time.
Take a long drive with the windows down and music up.
Get your toes in the grass.
When you can’t take it anymore, give.
Gaze at a sunset.
Stare at a candle flame.
Sleep naked.
Drink water with electrolytes.
Eat three meals a day.
Take a walk after those meals.
Remember that you are Love.
And that all is Love.
And that you come from Love.
And to Love you shall return.

Did I miss anything? ❤️‍🔥 by @thetangledandtrue

How stunning it is
to remember that
we are all just
fractals of God
stumbling through life,
piecing ourselves back together
by learning to know
each other.

How tragic it is
when we forget
that our brother and sister
is not an other,
but simply ourselves
reflected back like a mirror.

How brave it is to
reconsider
everything we thought
we knew
when we listen to
one another.

How Divine it is
to become whole again
when the mosaic pieces
back together
and we take the
messy, sweaty, muddy
trek back to the

The bravest things you’ve ever done are the chicest.

Because reconnecting with God after religious trauma is chic.

Telling the truth you were taught to swallow is chic.

Coming home to the body they told you to fear is chic.

Setting the boundary that costs you people is chic.

Still believing your body is capable of healing when everything within you feels like it is collapsing is chic.

And none of it looked glamorous while you were doing it.

It looked like crawling out of hell. Like grief. Like saying the scary thing with a shaking voice.

Like sleepless nights, red eyes, and a tear-stained face.

Like loss. But also like gain.

But that quiet, unglamorous bravery, the kind no one claps for — is the most chic thing there is.

So here’s to us. And here’s to you.

For turning what could’ve destroyed you into light.

For untangling the God you love from everything that hurt you.

For becoming yourself anyway.

Comment your own “how chic of you” and tell me the brave thing you’re giving yourself credit for today 💅🏼 by @thetangledandtrue
