POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I'm 41 and I'm just getting started as a producer. 🎧

For years I worked in engineering. Now I'm chasing what I actually want. This page is going to be honest about that. I will show you the accounts that inspire me, what it is like starting this and how I build my sounds.

Follow along if you want to see where this goes. 👋

When did you start chasing what you actually want?

How to humanize MIDI chords: Ableton strum chords 🎹

Real players rarely hit every note at the same time. Ableton can fake that for you:
→ Chord device: Strum, Tension & Crescendo
→ MIDI clip: Transform tab → Strum
→ Bonus: a little velocity randomness

Save this for your next session and tell me: do you play your chords in or click them in?

Always in key in Ableton. Zero music theory needed 🎹

I barely know any theory, so I just pick a key and let Ableton do the work:

1️⃣ Set a key for your project. Pick one at random if you like, there are no wrong answers here.
2️⃣ Make a MIDI track. All the in-key notes light up on the piano roll.
3️⃣ Turn on "Highlight" to keep those notes marked across the whole grid.
4️⃣ Hit "Scale" to hide every note that's out of key. Now you can only draw the right ones.
5️⃣ Put the Scale MIDI effect before your instrument. Every note you play gets snapped into key, so mashing your keyboard still sounds musical.
6️⃣ Try other keys in the Scale effect to hear your track in a new key without rewriting anything.

How do YOU procrastinate about learning music theory? 👇

What Ricardo really whispered to Sven 👀🤫

Okay, not really. This is a fan edit: the voiceover is obviously dubbed and neither of them actually said this. It's all love and no disrespect. Ricardo Villalobos and Sven Väth are absolute legends. Endless respect for what they've given to this culture 🙏

The track "Dance for me" is real though: it's mine and it's a free download on SoundCloud. Link in bio 🔗 taken in Berlin, Deutschland by @theteddish

While we’re working full speed on what’s next and deciding which news to announce first, @lchtnbrg unintentionally designed a sticker in full MIKROMAL CI that speaks right to our hearts.

With elections coming up in Berlin tomorrow, taking a stand and speaking out against fascism and racism is more vital than ever.

MIKROMAL has always been rooted in diversity, respect, and open-mindedness. It’s important to remember that house music was created by Black and Queer artists in Chicago who carved out underground safe havens when society turned them away.
Club culture thrives on this legacy. Respecting where this music comes from means taking an active stand and keeping our spaces strictly free from fascism, racism, bigotry, and any other form of discrimination.

Thank you lchtnberg for letting us share your art!
