SYNTHETIC SUBSTITUTION CYPHER
was honored to perform at the most recent @soulbodycyphers event and face off against the incredible @esjaylm918
I knew going in that Mutt is a monster and I would have to go the extra mile to stay competitive - so I opted for an 8 minute medley using the classic drum break from “Synthetic Substitution” by Melvin Bliss as a through-line
Started off with the beat for “DWYCK” by @gangstarr, went into “The Hurt Business” by @westsidegunn, followed with “Die Like A Rockstar” by @xdannyxbrownx and finished off with “Black Balloons (Reprise)” from @flyinglotus and @denzelcurryph
Building the transitions between these tracks was so fun and using the drum break to tie the whole thing together was hiphop as fuck
Thank you to all the homies and new friends who were there that night to turn up with me and cheer me on as I gassed myself out in the best way possible lmao
Special shout outs to @bezel365 and @jrielaofficial in the verses - the former cause I know how special it is to have songs with this man and the latter cause I will never forget how nasty “Dead Presi” was lmao 👀🔥
Gonna record a proper rendition of this joint soon and post it on soundcloud and YouTube toward the end of the year cause I really love how the cypher came together

Catch yall at the next one 👀💪🏻

Also word up to @lvlcdadragon and to my Mom and to Marcus Lee on the footage 🙏🏻

excited to let y’all know that in celebration and condolence of Valentine’s Day, we got a new album from my guy @__marcuslee__
#LoveLee

been absolutely honored to be featured twice on this project, and to have been trusted to help Marcus flesh this record out as the recording, mixing and mastering engineer. He crafted a beautiful concept for y’all to step into and experience, and I’m so stoked to have been part of it.

Shout out to @aph.digital and @kah.nivo on the production (I did the beat flip on Trust, but those two did the rest of the project in equal part), much love to @conquesomusic on the dope cover art, and thank you to everyone who participated in the interviews with Marcus, as that multitude of perspectives really helped give a sense of grand scale to the record.

Go cop this on @bandcamp right now, it’ll be on streaming as soon as Distrokid has it processed and delivered to DSPs.

it’s technically still 8/31 so I hope this Kounts lmao

took one of my favorite songs from the soundtrack of one of my favorite shows (I Don’t Want To Set The World On Fire from HBO’s Watchmen) as a sample to flip for this round of the #KountChallenge

completely blanked on filming the beatmaking process so I wrote a lil verse and hook based on the sample’s lyrics so id have something to make the video with 😂

as always, huge shout out to @kountkoal (as well as @reverb!) for hosting the challenge and always providing such banging drums to work with

hope y’all dig it!

it’s officially time to drop an EP that’s been in the oven for a couple years… I Think Therefore I B 💭

this 6-track EP was produced entirely by Willie B (aka @ichibandon) and features @whose.music @__marcuslee__ @smithereenz @zensoulmusic and is home to the #SliceofthePIE posse cut, which has @__marcuslee__ @jrielaofficial @konamihomi @jonniebars @psychosloth_ @ayesincere @capt.pigment and @camarcher all showing out for the 909 🔥🔥🔥 Also, we got the god @jmkm808 of @productiveculture on the mix for tracks 1 & 4 ❤️

Dropping this on Friday March 4th, so definitely stay tuned for that and make sure to show love to everyone who made this project a reality.

Huge thanks and shout out to the incredibly talented @conquesomusic for the cover art for the project 🙏🏻

Can’t wait for this to see the light of day, but while we wait, go run up the video for Track 3, #SonsOfJerusalem, directed by the amazing @amaliasepulveda_

2021 been a year full of growth
can’t overstate my appreciation to everyone who been pushing these numbers up, almost 12x the streams of last year is a wild thing to see

special shout out to Array Seven for commissioning #EaseYourPain which made for more than 100k of these streams on Spotify 🙏🏻💪🏻 if you’re into Team Fortress 2 go check his channel out he makes great content

hoping to see similar gains in 2022 and I’ll be putting out a lot of special music in the upcoming year in pursuit of that goal ❤️

hit the link in my bio to stream the new singles and don’t forget to bump #DayLeeThoughts if you haven’t yet! @beatsbydayone @__marcuslee__ and I really put a lot of work into that project and it deserves more attention!

more soon 👀
