Where the river once made flour… 🌿

In the picturesque village of Lower Slaughter, the old watermill tells a story that stretches back nearly a thousand years.

Powered by the gentle flow of the River Eye, its great waterwheel once helped grind grain into flour, providing an essential part of everyday village life.

A mill has stood on this site since at least 1086, and milling continued here until 1958.

Today, the river still flows past its ancient walls, carrying the quiet echoes of centuries gone by.
