Being able to design an interface is one thing, but having the confidence to justify every small decision you’ve made to your wider team is another thing entirely.

I know this feeling well. Which is why I put in place some techniques to help me build that confidence needed to thrive in these situations.

Here, I’m sharing with you the techniques I still use to this day, for you to try out yourself if you’re ever looking to build that confidence muscle 💪

Hey 👋

I hope you’re having a great week whatever you’re up to!

Since going solo last year, I often get asked about how I find clients and what are some of the ways we can be more proactive when looking for that ideal customer to help with our design skills.

To answer that, here’s a handful of tips you can try out and see if they work for you!

Tried any of these? Let us know! If you have any of your own techniques, please share them here for others to learn from 🙂

Take care 🙏

Do you ever find yourself rushing to built a prototype to share your design ideas with your team?

Let me tell you something…

Over the years I’ve found that by making a couple of a little tweaks to the way designs are presented can make a big difference to the quality of conversations you have with your team.

With these techniques I’ve been able to:

- Share regular design updates to get ongoing feedback.

- Set clear expectations for what’s ready for build and what is still an easy idea.

- Solidify concepts instead of living in a messy Figma file.

Check out this post for the details.

Sometimes something comes along that is just too valuable not to share…

And right now that is Sneak Peek.

A Figma file can be a very personal space, so seeing how the top tech companies structure theirs and collaborate on a design can be a goldmine of inspiration.

Hats off to Jayneil Dalal for this one 👏

Comment ‘Peek’ below and I’ll send you the direct link.

As a design team of one, you can often find yourself jumping between tasks and switching context multiple times a day.

You can be deep in the details one minute, and presenting high level direction to the wider team the next.

This can be a challenge.

When you embrace it though, it’s a unique opportunity to grow and develop in many areas.

Not just as a designer, but as a person.

Do you ever experience this in your role?

As designers we focus a lot on our users. But how do we translate this in a way that the wider business can get behind?

Having spent countless hours in rooms with stakeholders presenting designs and learning about their communication styles, I’ve put together some ways of thinking you could try out yourself.

Don’t forget to let me know how you approach Stakeholder discussions as a designer 🙌
