🫣 We had a crazy idea to self-publish a baby board book before our daughter turned 1.

With an incredible response from kids and parents, our first batch sold out! We couldn’t believe when we saw it on the shelves of Australia’s iconic book store ❤️

Then life got busy.. I went back to full time work and any time we had was spent with our toddler. The Tiny Dreamers took a backseat - but we never stopped thinking about what we could create next.

So we’re back 👀 follow for what’s next! by @thetinydreamers_

It took me awhile to realise that Scarlett was not going to be sitting quietly reading a book 9 times out of 10 😆 she’s most engaged when we:

👏 Make it interactive - clapping, tapping, twirling, tickling, saying a word and getting her to copy it.

❤️ Make it relevant to her interest at that point in time - she was loving numbers and counting, so we counted literally everything from cherries on her clothes to smiley faces in the book

🤪 Embrace the chaos! She’s got a silly curious mind of her own and often it leads to unexpected giggles = fun for all!

What does reading time look like for you?

🕺 When reading with a 2 year old you gotta get ready to tickle fluffy Santa, smash the cover and dance to the music! It’s this unexpectedness that I love about seeing how she takes it all in.

We rate “Don’t tickle Santa!”by @usborne_books 10/10 ⭐️ for the interactivity - she loves sound books and touch elements so this is a perfect combination of both. We got it for Xmas but looks like it’s become a year-round fave.

My baby turned 2 in Jan and it was an overdue reminder to start documenting the little things she babbles when’s learning every single day 🥹

She’s never been a ‘sit and read on her own’ type of baby, so I’m trying to read together more often now.

We do love @nosycrow books for her age and she especially loves this book ‘Let’s Go’! about the playground which saves us on the days we can’t actually get to the playground 😆 it’s relatable and the illustrations by @carolinabuzio are so so cute. She calls it the ‘wheeeee’ book and has even gone to bed hugging this hardcover book to sleep!

Anyway this reading session lasted all of 3 minutes before she bounced haha. Follow along for more toddler learning moments 🧡 #toddlerbooks #toddlerlearning #toddlermom #toddlerreads by @thetinydreamers_

“But how did you guys even create a baby book?!” 🤔

Tom turned a passing idea into an accidentally cute sketch just 4 weeks after Scarlett was born, and then kept going every single moment he had a free moment - until we had all 26 letters drawn!

When we launched pre-orders the nagging question at the back of our minds was “will anyone even buy this book?” 🫠

Then orders started rolling in - 1 book! 3 books! Even the 5-book bundle! Wait.. 10 books?

DMs asking - Do you ship outside of Australia? Can you ship to Singapore? Will you be releasing more books? Can you (Tom) please sign my book?

It’s thrilling and scary at the same time. And we’re so grateful for the enthusiastic response we’ve received! We hope to reach as many parents and bubs as possible. Now dare we dream of our next book..? 🤭

That’s what baby interns are for, right? ✅

Our books aren’t just cute. They’re tested for durability against casual manhandling, spit, drool, spews and chews!

Poor girl was earnestly trying to groove to twinkle but the song just wouldn’t keep playing 🤣

This is why we chose to do QR code soundtracks instead of a button on our A to Z of Music book!

Can’t wait till we have 2 books titles to update this vid.

It also comes with 26 custom soundtracks and we’ve been told makes a fab gift for toddlers too 🎁

It’s just 1 of 26 soundtracks we’ve created for the A to Z of Music board book ✨

We chose Twinkle Twinkle as a familiar tune, then created each one of them in a style that fits the instrument or the word - from Accordion to Zither, Jazz to Lullaby!

Play the soundtracks in the background as you flip through the book with bubs, or have your toddler put their *listening ears* on and focus on a specific word and how it sounds! ✨
