❓🎶Best town for musicians? Los Angeles, Austin, Nashville, Las Vegas, or???

#musician #nashville #austin #losangeles #lasvegas by @thetitansofrock

A dramatized self-tape audition in Los Angeles.

Sometimes you get 3-5 audition a day on busy days. This new self-tape model sure does beat rushing across town all day.

We used to go to every audition in person with real people. Auditions were fun and a great place to feel the vibrancy of the entertainment industry (on good days), but the driving was brutal.

I remember once I had four auditions in one day. My last one was in Pasadena at 4pm.

When I finished, my agent called: “Brett, you have one more now - in Santa Monica, and you need to be there no later than 5:30pm.” 🫨

FML. I had just driven to Pasadena from Venice at the cusp of rush hour. Now I have to drive back at the height of it?

I politely confirmed, got in my car, and drudged back across town. It took me 1.5 hours at a snail’s pace.

Out of the five auditions I had that day, I went 0/5 on even callbacks. Sometimes it goes down like that.

So, yes, self-tapes are the way to go.
