Hello World!🌎❤️

A misconception is defined as “a wrong or inaccurate idea or conception”.

A misconception can lead to a lack of understanding or knowledge.

This won’t do when it comes to children!

SO! We will be having Misconception Mondays!😎

Every Monday…😎

A new concept we need to reframe and make more sense of as we cultivate confident and lifelong learners. 😎

Shout out to the phenomenal educator @niqteaches who is echoing today’s misconception!

Family, are you spending your 1,825 days with your child wisely? Tell me in the comments!

Take a seat and join today’s session @communityco_mcd with my very, very smart friend! She’s a decoding MACHINE! Everything you see here is cultivate a fluent, comprehending reader. I included encoding today to mix it up a little and strengthen her confidence overall in reading. IT WORKED!🥹 She’s doing such an amazing job! 📚❤️

The most important thing to remember about her 1:1 session is that it’s different from everyone else’s in our learning pod. What we are working on is what SHE needs, what will propel HER trajectory of learning. 📚❤️

If you would like framework on how cultivate this kind of learner, meet me in the comments!📚❤️🫶🏾

WARNING: Once your child becomes as fluent reader, they read EVERYTHING!🥹

I’m so proud of my sweet girl. She’s a champion reader in her learning pod, @communityco_mcd, and in her library! She recently was celebrated for reading the most books in her age group at her neighborhood library.🙌🏾😍📚 Her new nickname may need to be Matilda!🫶🏾😂

Special shoutouts to her parents, @healer.healing._ and @gktrooper48 for encouraging her love of books and being her first teachers!❤️🙏🏾😍

When my parents send me clips like this, it reminds me of my favorite quote about reading…

“The whole world opened up to me when I learned to read.”
- Mary McLeod Bethune

The goal is to open up possibilities and opportunities that will be fueled by her curiosity and love of literacy. May she endless explore the world through books! 📚❤️🎉

Im just happy to be a facilitator of her greatness. Ms. Tangee is so proud of you, Sweet Girl!🫶🏾💕 Keep reading and making learning fun!🎉🎉🎉

Homeschooling Maj is action packed!

✅He just had his fluency assessed. He currently 78wpm.
✅Read his informational text for the week independently and was highly engaged during the read aloud.
✅Place value instruction is coming along nicely and all has left to do is this 100 chart. 😎

You’d think he just got done working a 12 hour shift.😆

Ask Tangee Peek to introduce herself, and she doesn’t lead with a job title or a company name. She leads with an order of operations.

“Believer. Woman. Mom. Servant. Educator,” she says. “And, most recently, The Toddler Tutor.”

“Kindergarten is the new second grade,” @thetoddlertutor continues. “I’m just gonna keep it a buck with you, a child who walks in without the basics — a few letters, their name, some numbers — risks falling behind before they’ve even settled in.”

Peek’s on a mission.

“I want to be an answered prayer to parents, not replace them,” she says. “I want them to feel empowerment and confidence to be their child’s first teacher.”

When I see folks on this internet saying what is academically and developmentally appropriate for toddlers to learn, I HUSH. 😎

Because THIS is what we were doing in my home at 18 months with my daughter:letter sounds, potty training, intense oral language development, intentional affirming of her greatness and so much more... 💕

I have always been a high effort parent. This baby deserved it and the now teenager she has become does as well. 💕

So when you ask “Can a toddler really read?”, my answer is a big, fat, LOUD YES. This is a receipt and this was only our beginning. 💕

My girl @dollyparton believed they could so much that she sent them libraries so you should believe too. 🕊️

Yall, just START. It doesn’t have to be perfect or pretty. JUST START. 🫶🏾 TODAY.👀 Do your BIG ONE for your children. They deserve it. 🙏🏾
