I took my gf stargazing to the @thetraceresort last night and this is what I captured…  It’s been awhile since Ive dusted off my old astro equipment, and I have to say how much I’ve missed it.

Back when I was getting into photography, for many years I had a side obsession with shooting the night sky, any chance I had, I took, which resulted in many many nights alone under the stars.

I wanted to create a little visual story of two star gazers at the edge the dock, taking in the majesty of Milky Way and the perseids meteor shower above.
 Now it’s been a while since my last proper astro shoot, but I have to say it really came together, and not alone this time either :) Manolya and I ended up sleeping right there until about 5am. One of those couples idea you’ll dream about, we actually did! (“lets just spend a night together under the stars!”)  So this photo is made up of multiple shots if anyone is curious. The Milky Way and the foreground (us on the dock) were shot on my astro tracker with the Nikon Z8 - 24-70 2.8II. Meanwhile I had my Nikon ZR with 14-24mm shooting a timelapse of the Milky Way. The meteors were pulled from the ZR files and then super imposed into the final image. So in totally there were about 50ish photos that went into making this composite shot.

Words feel limiting as I attempt to capture the gratitude, wonder and peace that gently pulses in my heart, as I touch down from another magical edition of AUM 🪷

I do believe it’s thanks to these sacred teachings, which create the signature for such beauty to unfold.

If there’s one little magical place in the Kawarthas, it’s this one.

We spent the long weekend at The Trace Resort and had such a good time. The place is simple in the best possible way - lake days, sunshine, dogs running around, people actually talking to each other, and that feeling of slowing down a little.

But what made it even better were the people we met there. Everyone was so warm, fun and genuinely lovely, and somehow that became one of my favorite parts of the whole weekend.

I obviously had my camera with me, so here are a few little pieces of what those days felt like.

Evenings after filming on @hgtv
