If the road you have travelled so far seems littered with obstacles and missed opportunities, it is possible to be filled with doubt and uncertainty and start questioning your skills and abilities.

I empathise because this used to be my story. I did not just feel a simple stirring or unspoken desire for change; I was almost desperate for it. I felt like I was wading through treacle and wanted to change my circumstances as much as I wanted to take my next breath. I felt held back by the shackles of past disappointments and failures, and I needed to embrace a new beginning.

If this is something you are going through, let this serve as a quiet voice within that whispers a gentle truth: you have the power to reinvent yourself. Just as nature adapts to changing environments, you too could adapt and find strength in the face of past or current adversity, so do not give up or give in. Keep taking incremental steps. Even if your progress is made in seemingly insignificant stages, you will eventually reach your goal.

Feeling stuck? I’ve been there. We all have, I daresay, more than once. These are some of the things I tell myself to restart my drive and get me moving in my journey towards my dreams.

- Chasing your dreams with passion and persistence may lead you to uncharted waters but don’t stop moving forward.

- You will falter, stumble and fall. It is a natural consequence of movement. It will happen but don’t let it stop you. Stand up, dust yourself off and keep moving.

- What you look at matters so keep your eye on your goals and don’t let your drive wane. You are capable of achieving great things despite the challenges that come your way.

- Remember that the key to success is to focus on goals, not obstacles. Keep moving forward and stay determined. Believe in yourself, your abilities and trust in your vision.

- Keep learning, keep growing, keep filling up any gaps in your skills, abilities and knowledge as you go. You may not know it now but you can learn it. Enjoy the learning process; you are never not going to need it so learn to love it.

- You have the power to create the life and career, and achieve your dreams. Take ownership of your choices and make them count.

- Finally, surrounding yourself and speaking to the right people - friends, family, mentors etc - can help you gain new perspectives, give you practical advice, keep you accountable and give you the emotional support you need to motivate you to move forward.
