Connecting people who use, love, and support @vancouverpubliclibrary

POSTS STORIES REELS

Forget the serums. Skip the Botox.

The real fountain of youth?

Lifelong learning and connection. And your library is offering it for free.

Staying curious keeps your mind sharp. Learning new skills keeps you capable. Showing up somewhere you belong keeps you connected to a world that keeps changing.

All of it. Free. At your library.

The catch?

This level of inspiration and connection only exists because people in this community choose to support it.

More than a third of older Canadians feel lonely.

In one of the most connected cities in the world.

For many seniors, the library is one of the only places left where connection is free.

No fee. No card required. No judgment.

A place to learn something new, stay curious, and belong. No matter your age.

Just somewhere to walk in and find something that makes your world a little bigger and your day a little brighter.

Because loneliness should not be the price of growing older in a city like ours.

People who love this library are doing something about it this fall.

You can, too. Link in bio.

You support a library that changes lives. The research proves it.

“If I was to put a value on the library, I’d say it is priceless.” Robert, 72.

He is not alone. 90% of library users say a public library is one of the most valuable resources a city can offer.

This year, VPL took part in the largest study of its kind and the findings show the real difference this library is making in people’s lives.

Your library is changing how people think. It is a place people turn to in their hardest moments. It helps newcomers find their footing. It helps people feel less alone.

The love for this library is real. And your impact is real.

One classic story. Nearly 3,500 people. All because of donors like you.

Wuthering Heights was the most borrowed eBook at VPL in 2026, reaching 3,496 borrowers. And 1 in 4 digital books in the collection exists because of donor generosity.

Your library is meeting people where they are. On their phones, in their earbuds, at midnight, on their commute. Wherever life takes them, in whatever format works for them.

Thank you for making sure everyone in this city has the chance to be curious, inspired, and full of joy. And that learning never stops and stories are always within reach.

What a night. 🧡

Our generous and caring community of library lovers raised $117,117 for free Early Learning Spaces at VPL.

Thank you for showing up for your library.

The rooftop was full of the most warm, wonderful, and beautiful people. The conversations, the laughter, the energy. It was amazing.

Together, you gave Vancouver's youngest learners the spaces they need to play, learn, and connect right from the start. You have changed young lives.

We can’t wait to do it again. 📚🧡

Special thanks to our sponsors who brought the event to life @raincoastbooks @rbc @enkel.backoffice @mnpllp & Jarislowsky Fraser.

Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is also one of the most expensive.

For many families, that means smaller homes, no dedicated playroom, and very little space for the kind of free, active play children need to grow and learn.
That is why families are turning to their library in growing numbers.

VPL Foundation is creating more free Early Learning Spaces at VPL branches, where children play, connect, and build the skills that set them up for life.

This August, Rooftop Remix is raising funds to bring more of these spaces to families across Vancouver.
You can be a part of it. 🧡 Link in bio.

“Libraries are magical places. They open up the world, open up doors to creative thinking, curiosity, and confidence. And that is why I am so excited to be back at Rooftop Remix.”💯

Layne said it perfectly. We can’t wait to team up on August 21st to create more free Early Learning Spaces at VPL where every child gets to fall in love with learning.

What does confidence look like for a five-year-old?

It looks like a little boy in the Early Learning Space at his local VPL branch. He spots an older child with a train set, gathers his courage, and asks if he could join in.

The older boy said yes.

His mum watched from across the room, cheering inside. She knows how rare this is.

Their library is a place where every child arrives on equal footing and caregivers feel safe giving their children the space to be brave.

That courage follows a child into the classroom, the schoolyard, and all the way into adulthood.

Your support at Rooftop Remix creates the free Early Learning Spaces where confidence and connection begin.

A gift that lasts a lifetime. Tickets in bio. 📚🧡
