The beauty that is North West province in South Africa

80 or so kilometres outside of Johannesburg is Dikhololo- and the perfect bush getaway for a few days.

Nothing but stars, braais, cicadas, wildlife and the heat of the highveld.

I was surprised how close they are to each other and how truly walkable the area is.

The perfect day in Istanbul

Start with a perfect Turkish breakfast, take a wander up to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque. Do some shopping in the surrounding markets and then make your way back down to the water.
A beer overlooking Bosphorous Bridge is then very well deserved as you turn back towards the towns. After surviving the market’s, go and find some dinner, choose from delectable deserts and have a glass of red wine.

The absolutely beautiful town of Iznik in Bursa.
Sitting on Lake İznik, this absolutely beautiful town is packed with culture and history. Not only is it the first place where ceramic tiles were made, but it is believed to be the birthplace of Christianity with the first meeting of the archbishops from around the regions.
It’s surrounded by Roman Walls and Roman gates, has a Roman theatre and various other ruins which are still being discovered and excavated.
It’s beautiful. It’s got great food. It’s got a beautiful lake and it’s got amazing sunsets.
10/10 from me 😊

İznik is an absolute treasure of not so hidden gems of Roman ruins. İznik, Turkey’s former name Nicaea, was an important Roman and Byzantine city.
The Romans built walls to protect the city from attacks which are still prominent today and marked by gates. Or Kapis- the Lefte and Istanbul being featured here.
You can also visit the Roman Theatre ruins, traces of kilns, tombs mosques and museums. They are also currently excavating a site in Lake Iznik that you cannot access but is a submerged basilica thought to be a key part of the birth of Christianity.

I think I could live this life.

This simple, beautiful, slow, easy life. A life of orange sunrises and red sunsets. Early nights and deep sleeps. Fresh food and brewed coffee. The smell of toiled soil and fallen fruit. The crisp breeze on sweat drops on your skin.
Backdrop mountains and fire sky evenings. A lake, playful kittens and a sense of fulfilment when the door closes at the end of the day.

I think I could live this life.
