Exciting news!!! We now offer direct booking! Booking link in bio, use the coupon code “Direct” for 10% off. . This is a big step for @thewaywardinn after being on Airbnb exclusively for the past 4 and a half years. This year we realized that we could no longer ethically support Airbnb’s platform due to their executive’s support of American imperialism. Being an independent B & B sits better with our values. AND as an independent B & B, there won’t be Airbnb fees so our rates are much more affordable when booking direct - and especially so with the coupon. We already have bookings into the summer on Airbnb and we will honour those, and plan on slowly phasing out Airbnb while we build up our direct bookings. Since launching our own website, we have been able to bring sliding scale stays back which has always been part of our main goals: to make having a space to relax and recharge accessible to everyone. In a capitalist world that tells us to keep producing, rest is resistance. Any likes, shares, saves and comments on this post would be so appreciated ✨ #bnb #restasresistance #vancouverisland #explorecowichan by @thewaywardinn
Use SPOOKY to save 13% on all October reservations, direct booking only. 📷: photo taken next to Waterwheel Park, an 8 minute walk from @thewaywardinn #mushrooming #mushroomseason #fallvibes #vancouverisland by @thewaywardinn
The chicks have hatched and are ready for visits! We have held off on naming them because we don’t like naming them when we can’t keep them (and any roosters will be re-homed)…. But I named one Ms. Frizzle today. Fingers crossed that she is a hen! When you book directly @thewaywardinn , you are welcome to meet our chickens and chicks! Just message us when you are here, and we’ll figure out a time! Thanks @yellowpointfarms for the eggs! #gaybnb #gaystay #gaycation #backyardchickens #ruralqueers by @thewaywardinn
Some people find the ferry long or inconvenient. To them I say 👀 The travel to Vancouver Island is truly magical! Gotta love @bcferries by @thewaywardinn
We are now offering micro-farm tours including a meet n’ greet with our chickens to guests who book directly with us! They are fun, therapeutic, and cluckin’ silly. Some egg-citing news: we will have chicks 🐥 🐣 soon for people to visit as well! A couple of our hens went broody so we got some fertilized eggs from @yellowpointfarms for them to tend to. Btw, we still have some space for summer bookings! We just had a cancellation in August, so we even could accommodate a longer stay. 📷 by @roamingintheknow / @yourguidetobc Thanks to Shawn for letting us use this photo! And to Alia for taking it! by @thewaywardinn
Happy Pride month from @thewaywardinn ! At our Inn you’ll find: 🌈 A selection of books that include 2SLGBTQIA+ content and authors 🌈 A selection of movies that include 2SLGBTQIA+ content and creators 🌈 A premium subscription to @cravecanada so you can binge watch @heatedrivalrycrave 🌈 A premium subscription to @cbcgem so you can watch queer nature docs like Animal Pride (on the Nature of Things) and Queer Planet 🌈 🐓 Chicken tours! The @__springpeepers show went off without a hitch and was incredibly lovely! 14 people attended, and $100 USD / $140 CAD was raised for the @interlinkfoundation to uplift queer Palestinian voices. Spring Peepers talked about peace building, squirrel drag, and led us through singalongs. Their voices were at times haunting, and at times light hearted. To hear them was a balm on our hearts. Should we host more accoustic shows in the backyard garden at @thewaywardinn ? #peacebuilding #queerartist by @thewaywardinn
We are so pleased to be hosting @__springpeepers for a free acoustic concert on June 5 from 7 to 8:30 pm! BYO-camping chairs or picnic blanket (we will have some, but not enough for everyone) You can listen to them here: https://www.farris-manning.ca/spring-peepers.html We’ll be passing a hat for donations for the @interlinkfoundation , the charity arm of @interlinkbooks (the only Palestinian-owned publisher in North America), which publishes authors from the global South, and authors whose books have been banned. Funds will specifically go to help uplift queer Palestinian voices with one of their newest publications, Homosexual Intifada, an anthology of queer Palestinian authors. What’s in bloom at @thewaywardinn ? There’s always something different! We always get our gorgeous hanging baskets from @superior_farms ! They also have a delightful petting farm you can visit. #gardening #flowersofinstagram #flora by @thewaywardinn
We highly recommend checking out an art workshop with @brambleandbrusharts when you visit Chemainus! We attended their Mushroom Watercolour painting class a couple of weeks ago. They are offering this class again many times over the summer, and many other art workshops and classes. Here are the deets: 🎨 It was on a Sunday from 11-12:30 - excellent timing for those wanting to do something relaxing and creative on their vacation 🎨 Jennifer is an excellent teacher: kind, patient and funny 🎨 Bramble & Brush art studio is a 5 min bike ride or 20 minute walk from @thewaywardinn 🎨 Jennifer offers private classes: if you are visiting with 3 or more people, she’ll come to @thewaywardinn to teach a class of your choosing (either inside at the kitchen table or outside on the patio) 🎨 All materials are provided, so you don’t need to travel with art supplies. They also sell excellent art supplies if you need anything! 🎨 Jennifer was really accommodating of our 3.5-year-old attending too and they had a blast! 🎨 For those who are COVID cautious, this felt like a harm reduced way to go to an art class. The door to outside was fully open, and the space where you make the art is 5’ from that fully open door (good ventilation). We masked for the entire class, and this felt fairly easy to do. The class was only 7 people, including the teacher, so it was not a crowd. 🎨 Bramble & Brush is in the heart of Chemainus: a great location to go to lunch after class or get an icecream! @owlsnestbakerybistro , @willowstreetcafe , @scoopsbythesea , and Mount Breton Golf Course Restaurant all have beautiful patio seating and are very close by. This is not an ad, btw, we just really loved this class and want to recommend it to guests! We’re also done private pottery classes with Jennifer and they were a blast! #chemainus #explorecowichan #artclass by @thewaywardinn
