“Because some chapters deserve a cover”😎🤩📰

Bryce and I are honored to be featured on the Jan/Feb cover of LA Parent Magazine.🙏🏾🥹 Grab a copy around town at your local library, school, Vons or Albertsons Grocery stores across Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

🗣️STORY TIME
I once had someone close to me tell me there was no such thing as a “good mom.” I fought hard to be seen because at the time, their opinion held weight. Until one day it clicked. There was always only one voice that ever truly mattered, and that clarity is still present in how I show up for myself and for my son to this very day.

This cover is a reminder of everything I’ve worked so hard for…the long days, the hard decisions, and the faith it took to keep going. It also reflects the sacrifices Bryce and I have made together, often quietly, but always with Gods voice leading the way.

Landing on the cover of LA Parent Magazine (with a 4 page spread) after being back home in Los Angeles for about a year now, makes this moment even more meaningful. It’s a celebration of motherhood, my independence as a woman, and our crazy 7 year journey around the country.

Thank you to the @laparentmag team for honoring our story, for creating space to celebrate moms, and for reminding me that some of the greatest moments come from the role that matters most to me.

Being a good mom always mattered.💯
And today, it’s written on the cover.🥰

Today, as one of the few Black women broadcasting weather on television here in Los Angeles, I never take for granted what it means to show up for the next generation. Representation matters, but so does being PRESENT. ❤️ For me that means getting off the internet and showing up in person.

Both of my parents are from the Eastside of LA, so getting to visit St. Aloysius Gonzaga School to read my children’s book, Shoot For The Stars, was especially meaningful. 📚

What you don’t always see outside of my work on TV (because I’m TERRIBLE at posting it 😩) is how much time I spend visiting local schools. I’ve been doing this type of giving back for years and at this point it’s probably a monthly thing.

From reading to elementary students to having real conversations with middle and high schoolers about their futures, their dreams, and the work it takes to get there, these visits have become some of my favorite moments.

I worked too hard to make it back home not to pour right back into my community. And if my journey can inspire even ONE child to believe their dreams are possible, then every mile it took to get here was worth it. 🥹⭐️

WHAT SCHOOL SHOULD I VISIT NEXT? Tag your favorite elementary, middle, or high school in the comments! 👇🏾

My children’s book, Shoot For The Stars, is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and StarHarvey.com! 🌟
