Day 15: STACKING CUPS 🥤📚
In this STEM activity , we are using three objects to explore and see if stacking them is easy or difficult.The materials are Cups , playing cards and books.
📚Arrange the playing cards in columns with horizontal beams in pattern just like beams in a building structure .See the pic !
📚Trial Testing :
To test the tower , first we stacked only cups as pyramid on the playing cards .It worked great so we were ready add more weight.
📚Make a stronger structure :
We tried adding 3 cups on first layer of playing cards , next we stack books at least 2 lbs in weight to see if the cards could take the weight of the books.
📚Now we stack another layer of cups.
My son was excited to see the cards hold the weight of cups and the books.This was our Engineering project with “Stacking cups” ..the last prompt for our #creativefunwithkids challenge!

Cup Stacking helps kids in building Hand -eye coordination ,sequencing for Math ,increases attention & focus and bilateral coordination.

Day 14 : RAINBOWS - Creative Color Wheel 🎨
Here is an invitation to create rainbow color wheel 🎨 No instructions or directions ..just loose parts play.
🌈Make a indoor #rainbow using art supplies from your craft room.We used art supplies but you could really use anything like your hot wheels car collection , LEGO blocks ,books or mini toys .We used Hula Hoop and chenille stems to create a Wheel.
🌈This activity kept my son occupied for an hour arranging art supplies in primary and secondary colors .It’s a fun way to study color, pattern and think creatively. #creativefunwithkids
🌈During this challenging time we could all use a rainbow .. to spread hope and positivity .😊

Day 13 : Sensory Play : Oobleck 👋🥣 An invitation to make and play Oobleck !
🥣Oobleck making is a science based activity !
Its perfect example of sensory play ..bcos when you hold oobleck , feels like solid sometimes and liquid sometime ..depending on the pressure applied.
🥣To make Oobleck , in a container , add 1 cup cornstarch and 1/2 cup water combined with food coloring .Then stir it well with a spoon to create this beautiful texture.
🥣We used kitchen tools like spatula,scoops & spoons to play and mix. It was really cool to watch oobleck drip through mini strawberry colander.
🥣We also included little toys in oobleck for some imagination play.
This is a super messy activity ..arrange the setup in place where it’s ok to get messy .
We sure did have a lots fun with this squishy sensory Experience.

Day 12 : DIY-Origami Butterfly Canvas Wall Art 🦋

Enhance your walls with this simple easy to make Origami Art !
My son loves making Origami Paper sculptures.
We came across this beautiful canvas On Pinterest 😃 ..it had no instructions but looked simple for him to make.
We improvised the painting with materials we had on hands.
📌To make one yourself ..here are the Steps :
Paint the canvas blue . Let it dry ! 🖌
Meanwhile make Origami Paper Butterflies 🦋
Now using a stamp add flowers in yellow and white paints .Leave to dry ! 🌼
Glue the Origami butterflies onto the canvas .It gives a nice 3-D effect to the art.
Now find a perfect place to hang it.😊🖼
My little artist was occupied with online school assignments and crafty projects .What were you up to ?

Day 11 : Build a Fort 🏗⛺️📚
Build your own fort with whatever you find around the house.. just like we made by using basic chairs , loose fabric curtains , pillows & lights!
⛺️My son has always been a reader ,he wanted a place where he can comfortably read , play on his iPad and snack.
⛺️We considered our living room best option bcos it’s spacious ..he can lay down ,read his book or sit on couch to play.
⛺️It’s a great feeling to listen and work with your child to make it an area that he would love to hang out .This place is perfect for quite afternoon time to relax after morning online school assignments .
⛺️We have a rolling cart with plenty of books , little toys ,snacks and drinks .
⛺️We have little toys like Rubric ,Tangle fidget toy and plus plus. These toys are hands on play that brings out creativity and artistic imagination while also being silent and calming.

Like Dr.Harley in his book “No regrets Parenting” said “It’s about forts in the living room ..and being grateful for what we have rather than wishing what we had more .”
We’re trying to stay calm and be grateful in this #covid19 panic situation and divert ourselves with #creativefunwithkids challenge .

Day 10 : Ziploc Bag Art 🛍 🎨

While planing the prompts for Creative Play challenge , I picked materials that are readily available in every household like a ziploc bag ..So everyone can participate in the challenge .
Here’s an interesting twist to use your ziploc bag for Art inspired by the very talented @colormadehappy 🌈
🎨To begin , On a watercolor paper we draw a doodle or silhouette using a Sharpie permanent marker .
🎨 Next we take a Gallon Ziploc bag to create background . Encourage kids to choose colors for their background ..like we did a Rainbow colors for umbrellas & blues to match the Shark silhouette .
🎨 Using Crayola markers color the ziploc bag 🎨 This is the fun part ..use spray bottle to mist the ziploc bag with water. 🎨 Now place the watercolor paper on ziploc bag and press .
🎨 Peel and remove the Paper to see the interesting transfer of color from ziploc bag to paper .
It’s a visual treat for kids ..be ready to listen some ohhs and ahhhs 😱
As you see we’re Staying home and enjoying our #creativefunwithkids photo challenge .
