Three years ago, I discovered @scajconference simply because it was close to my parents’ house in Tokyo. I didn’t realize the magnitude of the expo and was blown away by the coffee culture in Japan. When I left, I knew I wanted to incorporate this experience into an eventual cafe. When we started The Wild Fox, one of my goals was to feature some of the roasters I had discovered at SCAJ and, eventually, to have a booth there myself. Next month, that little idea is becoming a reality. The Wild Fox will be one of roughly 500 booths at SCAJ in Tokyo. Our goal here will be to introduce The Wild Fox brand to Japan, create new partnerships for the cafe, and see what opportunities might exist for us in Japan. I’m not sure what the next big goals will be after this, but it feels pretty special to look back at where this started and realize we’ve actually made it this far. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported The Wild Fox and been a part of getting us to this point. I’m also incredibly excited to be bringing some heavy hitters with us. 2024 US Barista Champion Frank La of BeBright and 2025 Danish Barista Champion Christopher Hoff will both be at our booth, pouring our coffee. 3年前、東京の実家から近かったことをきっかけに、SCAJを知りました。 当時はこれほど大きな展示会だとは知らず、会場を訪れてみて、日本のコーヒーカルチャーの広がりと熱気に大きな衝撃を受けたことを覚えています。 そのとき、「いつか自分でカフェを始めるなら、このときに感じたものを何かの形で取り入れたい」と思いました。The Wild Foxを始めた際、SCAJで出会ったロースターの方々のコーヒーをお店で紹介すること、そしていつか自分のお店としてSCAJに出展することを目標のひとつにしていました。 そして来月、その目標のひとつが実現します。 今年のSCAJでは、The Wild Foxも約500のブースのひとつとして出展します。日本の皆さまにThe Wild Foxを知っていただき、新たなつながりをつくりながら、これから日本でどんなことができるのかを考えていく機会にできればと思っています。 この先どのような目標に向かっていくのか、まだ明確には分かりません。ただ、3年前にSCAJを訪れたときの経験から始まったことが、こうしてひとつの形になったことを、とても嬉しく思っています。 これまでThe Wild Foxを支えてくださり、ここまで歩んでくることができたのは、皆さんのおかげです。本当に感謝しています。 そして今回は、素晴らしいバリスタにも参加していただきます。2024年USバリスタチャンピオンのFrank La（BeBright）と、2025年デンマークバリスタチャンピオンのChristopher Hoffが、The Wild Foxのブースでコーヒーを提供します。 10月に東京周辺にお越しの方は、ぜひお立ち寄りください。 無料招待券もご用意していますので、会場でお会いできましたら嬉しいです☕️ taken in 東京ビッグサイト by @thewildfoxsf

This past weekend, I had the honor of presenting and serving full barista championship routines in San Francisco at @thewildfoxsf These drinks and routines always have an incredibly special place in my heart and so often don’t live on beyond the end of a competition season. A huge thank you to everyone who entrusted me with providing this experience and for being such wonderful guests. Meeting and getting to dive deep with you on what coffee can be has left me with more gratitude and inspiration than I could have possible imagined. A giant, humongous thank you to @barista.rich, @tonozaki, @liza.priza, and the entire @thewildfoxsf team for making this possible, providing the space, and supporting competition beyond the stage. What if you could judge a Barista Championship? ☕️✨ One of my favorite things about San Francisco is how many people are actively creating experiences that you really can’t find anywhere else, and @barista.rich of @sprocoffeelab and @thewildfoxsf (and newly appointed Commissioner of the Port of San Francisco) is definitely one of those people. Through SPRO and now the Wild Fox (part of the city’s @vacanttovibrant program), Rich and @liza.priza have been doing so much to push SF’s coffee scene forward? From creative competition-inspired drinks to bring some of the most special coffee experiences to the city! Getting to experience Morgan Eckroth’s (@morgandrinkscoffee) championship routine was such an amazing example of that. It was such a cool behind the scenes look at what really goes into coffee at the highest level. Would you pay $225 for three tastings of coffee? My producer Jericho said it was the best coffee of his life! This weekend in San Francisco, Morgan Eckroth aka @morgandrinkscoffee is at The Wild Fox with a three-course coffee presentation she created for thr 1026 US Barista Championship. And she’s not just “coffee famous.” Morgan is the 2022 U.S. Barista Champion, a World Barista Championship runner-up, a two-time U.S. Barista Championship runner-up, and one of the most recognizable specialty coffee creators online with millions of followers. What makes this event amazing is the clear joy Morgan has sharing her coffee creations with her fans, not just a small group of judges. Morgan says it's not common "to bring a whole barista routine or do a seating like this. It's very special!" The menu is elaborate: Panama Elida gesha, Colombian typica mejorado, freeze-distilled lactose-free milk, coconut milk, bergamot milk punch, orange + mango juice, jasmine fog, maple syrup, N2O and more things I don’t even recognize! I know $225 for coffee sounds like a lot…but after seeing the precision, ingredients and storytelling behind each course, I understand the price. Expensive, yes, but a truly rare and special opportunity! I wouldn’t consider myself a coffee lover or particularly knowledgeable but I definitely like and appreciate it and this experience was incredibly cool and made me appreciate the craft even more. Each ticket includes the full competition service: - an espresso course - a milk course - a signature beverage & a gift bag! These drinks are normally never served to the public. They are created exclusively for judges during the Barista Championships and exist only within the competition setting but @thewildfoxsf offers the opportunity to the public!!
