We did our first homeschool day at Mansker’s Station, and I wish I could say it was an amazing experience, but honestly, I left feeling a little disappointed.

The reenactors were great, but the exhibits inside the fort felt like very watered-down versions of what they could have been. There were only three exhibits, and even the reenactors were limited in what they could demonstrate. For example, the blacksmith was only allowed to show us how to start a fire rather than actually forge anything.

Admission was $9 per person, so $45 for our family, with Mikey getting in free. We spent all of about 10 minutes going through the fort.

I don’t mind paying admissiony for an educational experience, especially when it comes to homeschool field trips. But when you have multiple kids, you want the experience to be engaging, well done, and worth the cost.

I know there’s value in preserving history, and the reenactors themselves were wonderful. I just wish there had been more to see, do, and learn to make the experience feel worthwhile. ❤️

I do remember going as a child and it being much more than what we experienced today. Thought I would share for any other homeschool friends. by @thewitty_widow

And just like that…..HE IS HOME!!!! 🙌🏻❤️

Let’s keep those prayers coming over our Pop as the healing continues. We are so incredibly grateful for every prayer, every message, and every person who has lifted him up.

God is SO good, and we are forever grateful for His unending love, grace, and protection over our Pop. 🙏🏻

Thank You, Jesus!!! ❤️ by @thewitty_widow

The Holy Spirit has truly been guiding us and protecting our Daddy/Pop. 🙏🏻

Several weeks ago, Dad went to the ER because he wasn’t feeling well. They sent him home but told him he needed to follow up with a few specialists—and Dad did just that. On Friday, a test revealed several blockages in his heart that could have led to something much worse. Instead, we found them before they had the chance to. Thank you, Jesus! ❤️

I’m sharing this because prayer is powerful, God is good, and He has shown us in so many ways just how good He truly is.

Today, Dad will have surgery on his heart, and I ask that you please pray over him and his team of doctors. It will be a long recovery, but we know this means he can be healthy, strong, and around for many, many more years. 🙏🏻

Thank You, Lord, for continuing to protect my family and for watching over my dad. Thank You for guiding every step, every doctor, every test, and every decision.
Amen. ❤️🙏🏻 by @thewitty_widow

Started the day at our local airport, where we grabbed breakfast and got the incredible opportunity to see—and get up close to—three aircraft from the @101stabndivaa ! 🚁🇺🇸

What a cool experience! The kids loved every second of it, and Dad even got to chat with one of the pilots and swap stories about his time in the Army. Such a fun morning and a pretty special memory for all of us!💜

Anyone else? 😅 We always seem to end up at the kitchen table, but that won’t stop me from getting the school room ready for the new year anyway. 😂

Fun morning watching motorcycle officers from all around the area tackle courses and compete! The best part was our longtime friend, Officer Azer, showing the kids every hidden compartment on his motorcycle. I’m pretty sure they were one button away from asking if they could borrow it for the afternoon. 😂 Then they got to check out (and ride) the Polaris, which definitely sealed the deal. Safe to say they think cops have the coolest toys!
