POSTS STORIES REELS

I'm baaaaaaack 👋

Please excuse the recent radio silence on this page- I've been super busy preparing to start my new job and then surviving half-term 🫠 I have, of course, made time to read...

🎃 The Tomorrow Project by H Critchlow ~ the scariest nightmares are the ones you can imagine coming true...

🎃 Doing Time by Jodi Taylor ~ if science fiction meets The Office sounds like your vibe, put this author on your TBR

🎃 These Godly Lies by Rachelle Raeta ~ buy Kleenex. In bulk. This author collects her readers' tears in a tin for good reason. Picking Book of the Month has never been easier.

🎃 A Court of Splintered Harmony by Sarah J Maas ~ I am emotionally invested in Elucien. I also want to slap some folk 👀

🦠 The Tomorrow Project by H Critchlow 🦠

I'm a sucker for outbreak/post-apocalyptic fiction, and this one packed an even bigger punch with memories of the pandemic still fresh in my mind. The first 50 pages alone will have you hyperventilating.

🕰️ Doing Time - Jodi Taylor 🕰️

If you haven't read The Chronicles of St Mary's then you are missing out. Go and rectify this immediately. Go on. Actually, wait- finish reading my post first.

Doing Time takes us into the cold and frightening embrace of the Time Police (obligatory boo hiss boo) but it still has all the things I love about Jodi Taylor's books- plucky characters, chirpy dialogue, slapstick comedy and a fabulous helping of history.

I'm afraid I'm still firmly a St Mary's girl (they don't drink tea in the Time Police; I wouldn't last a morning) but I look forward to seeing what Matthew, Luke and Jane get up to in the next installment of the series.

Okay, I'm done now. Go and get a copy of Just One Damned Thing After Another!

🎃 Hello October 🎃

I embraced the spooky season a little early with my September reads but October is a nice balance of humorous sci-fi, dystopian fiction, a fairytale for adults and a book that will likely shatter my heart into a billion pieces in the best way possible.

What's on your TBR for October?

🕰️Life Out Of Order by Audrey Niffenegger🕰️

I loved The Time Traveler's Wife so much I broke two paperbacks with excessive re-reading, so getting my hands on a digital ARC of the sequel was a dream come true 🥹

Life Out Of Order follows Alba, Clare and Henry's time-traveling little girl, but she's all grown up. We're reunited with some beloved characters and meet some new ones- human and other 👀

Available on hardback, e-book or audio on October 6 (😉) in the US 🇺🇸 and 13 October in the UK! 🇬🇧

Today I treated myself to a nice coffee and a leisurely browse in the library which, of course, turned into a spot of borrowing 🤭 so, let's welcome to the shelf...

📖 The Tomorrow Project by H Critchlow - a speculative tale set in 2050s London as a deadly virus sweeps the globe. Something tells me there won't be orderly queues for the supermarket in this one 👀

📖 Doing Time by Jodi Taylor - I loved The Chronicles of St Mary's series, the Frogmorton Farm books and the Elizabeth Cage novels so this series centring on the escapades of the Time Police will probably be a hit with me as well. Jodi Taylor never misses 🙌🏻

It's been such a lovely day. As always, it's the simple pleasures in life ❤️

🧙‍♀️ The Cozy Cauldron Cab Co - Nathan C Ashford 🧙‍♀️

This is the book equivalent of getting under a blanket with a hot chocolate. A hug in page form. A boost of the purest warm and fuzzies 🥰 If you need your good vibes topping up (and perhaps a reminder that there are good people in the world) then add this to your TBR, along with book #2 due next summer!

Shout out to the lovely @bookdragon.faedreams for putting this absolute gem on my radar 🤗
