Nostalgic for the ‘now’

Yesterday we had the very successful @chasingthesun_store official opening day out here at Innovation Close.

Our business lot was thriving with activity but my biggest take away has been the support of our business village we have created.

Witnessing first hand what this looks like for our kids.

Growing up in a group of women owned businesses. Seeing their mums chase their dreams while juggling motherhood and learning how important it is to support one another.

It’s really hit me in the emo’s.

for those who don’t know, i’m currently the content creator for @theworkpod_ !! it has been an absolute blast so far and i thought to bring you along for the ride on what i get up to on a content day. this one was from a couple of weeks ago but still such a fun day.

3 things you probably didn’t know about me 👇

1. I’m a crochet nerd. Like, full send. The WIP (work in progress) pile is a whole vibe.

2. My face was on a MASSIVE billboard at Sutherland train station. Thousands of people saw it and I did it for a $50 Coles voucher (I was a poor student back then).

3. I can do the splits. No warm up. Don’t ask.

9 years ago today, Sarah and I got married. ❤️

We were still a few months away from marriage equality being legal in Australia. The plebiscite was happening right under our noses, and whether we should even be allowed to marry was being debated publicly.

But Sarah and I had already decided.

We were getting married. Government approval or not.

Because we didn’t need anyone else to tell us that our relationship was real, that our commitment mattered, or that we were loved by our families.

Looking back now, I think I appreciate that day even more than I did at the time.

Because being able to openly love someone, marry them, build a family and just… live your life without having to defend your existence is something I never want to take for granted.

There are still so many places where LGBTIQA+ people don’t have that freedom. Places where being open about who you love can put you at risk, and where the rights people fought so hard to gain are being challenged, restricted or taken away. Even today we are watching countries with hard-won acceptance being challenged and rolled back in fear and oppression.

So today I’m feeling pretty bloody grateful.

For us. For that day. For how far things have come.

And for the fact that 9 years ago, two women stood up in front of the people they loved and said, we’re doing this anyway.

9 years married. Happy Anniversary.
Still my favourite person. ❤️ I love you

BODHI 🥰🫶🏼

Our first ever office baby! Safe to say not much work got done today… the littlest time waster finally got to meet his WorkPod family after our few weeks of health disasters.

It wasn’t all tears and grumpy man faces. He settled right into TWP life.

@aimeesatannabay the powerhouse Mumma, friend and one of our permanent desk hires brought little Bodhi into this world (quite dramatically may I say) but both are safe and doing great!

Expect office baby spam from now on.
