Full-circle moment.
@thewraithdesign just finished two animations for @entertainmentweekly coverage of @appletv F1: The Movie. A wild, compressed two week sprint where my GPU sounded like it wanted to qualify at Monaco.
Houdini, Unreal, late nights, and a lot of adrenaline.
Coolest part? One of my very first professional illustration gigs ever was for Entertainment Weekly. Coming back decades later with a new studio and a full-throttle F1 piece… surreal. High fives to the @chuckkerr, Alex and the rest of the EW team. Thanks also to my two freelancers @r_od3rick and @michellely3d for their hard work!

Sneak peeks galore at @adobe Creates Toronto 👀 New tools across Illustrator, Photoshop + Firefly, but Project Neon stole the show. Excited to see where this one goes—already demoed it for my students back when the beta dropped. by @thewraithdesign

Montreal, what a perfect city to host @offf.montreal. Every time I’m there I’m reminded how design-forward and creative this place is. Hopefully OFFF Montréal becomes a yearly thing to keep building on that energy.
Two days of talks from some of the best studios and artists in motion design. Loved running into so many Toronto folks, and meeting new faces, presenters and attendees.
A few things that stood out:
Smart visual problem-solving is still the human’s job, not the machine’s.
AI took a back seat, while @unrealengine + @touchdesigner showed how motion is moving into massive public and private spaces.
@sidefxhoudini (and the newly updated Copernicus system) was everywhere powering impossible ideas.
Big thanks to @offf.montreal for running such an inspiring event, and to all the presenters for sharing not just the work but the creative + technical process behind it. That in itself is an art.
See you next year. 🐇

This little stretch of my bookshelf has always been a spark for my imagination. Stacked with vintage Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, and pulp sci fi like Amazing Stories, these fragile pages once dared to sketch out the future. Flying cars, ray guns, moon colonies, bold visions of what could be.

They’re slowly disintegrating now, their paper giving way to time, even as the digital world races ahead. But there’s a kind of magic in holding them, proof of an era when imagination was printed in ink and bound in cheap pulp.

For me, these aren’t just old magazines. They’re a guide of wonder, and imagination. They have shaped how I think about storytelling, design, and building worlds.

Maybe the future will never look like this, but flipping through these pages reminds me why I make the work I do today.
