Join us at The Writers’ Block Art Gallery, Thursday October 1st for an artist reception with Catherine Rondthaler and Barbara Weiss, and live music by Mary Cameron and Joe Liebezeit of the SwingShifters. Traditional country music from the good old days of honky-tonks and dance halls, Mary and her band serve up a good helping of old-school country songs with authenticity, finding hidden gems and bringing them out to be heard once again.

Join The Writers’ Block Art Gallery Thursday, September 3rd for the opening of Language of Light by Catherine Rondthaler & Barbara Weiss.

Catherine Rondthaler @rondthalercatherine creates mixed-media works on paper using printmaking techniques and applied materials. Her practice moves between abstraction, impressionism, and graphic illustration, drawing inspiration from the landscape and natural world around her. This series reflects more than 15 years of exploration of mark and composition across Vermont, Oregon, and New Mexico. Rondthaler continues to explore this evolving format as her surroundings change.

Barbara Weiss @bweissart is a painter working in oil, cold wax, and encaustic. Her work explores landscape, memory, resilience, and the cycles of disruption and repair. Working intuitively, she builds and breaks down layers of color, texture, and mark, often incorporating unconventional materials. Influenced by the deserts, mountains, and open spaces of the Pacific Northwest and Southwest, Weiss creates paintings that function as inner landscapes—records of change, persistence, and the passage of time. A self-taught artist with more than 15 years of experience, Weiss has studied with teaching artists across the country. She is currently represented by Gallery 114 in Portland, Oregon.
