This sandwich shop in York has people hooked… 👀🥪

I was so lucky to be invited along to @saltpigsandwiches In York as they launch their spring menu 🌸

📍 Salt Pig, 39 Fossgate York YO1 9TA @saltpigsandwiches

This place has only been open around 6 months…
and it’s already built a lunch enthusiast loyal following.

People literally keep an eye out for what the team are going to create next on the menu and they do not disappoint.

The whole place has such a nice feel, cute, rustic, handmade touches everywhere… and a really welcoming team.

You can tell a lot of thought has gone into it by Tim and his team and it really shows, especially in the sandwiches.

Honestly… they’re something else 🥪
Please can someone explain how the flavour profile of a sandwich in York, can make me feel like I’m sat having lunch on the Amalfi Coast 🫶 unreal!

I was treat to the Romy off the sandwich trough, as I’m a fan of the Romesco sauce, that just happens to be owner Tim’s favourite too. And we added some Coppa di Parma in there as I couldn’t miss out on the freshly sliced meats.

Oh and as an added bonus they have their very own Salt Pig merch!

Save this for your next lunchtime food stop 🤍

Love coffee, cats and getting creative? We have found you such a lovely experience in York! 🎨

📍MeowCraft, Shambles, York @meowcraftshambles *invite/gifted

Our visit to MeowCraft on Shambles started with a stop at their café for one of their famous Catpuccinos!

The handcrafted cat designs are gorgeous, but the real surprise was the handmade cream topping. It was genuinely the tastiest coffee and matcha topping we’ve ever had. SO good!

Then we headed a few doors down to MeowCraft Studio to try something completely different: fluid art.

Rob explained and demonstrated everything brilliantly, guiding us through the different techniques used to create the designs. It was fascinating watching the colours move and seeing how each technique produced something different.

We absolutely loved the whole experience. It was creative, hands-on, and such a lovely way to spend time together.

With half term fast approaching, we couldn’t recommend this one enough if you’re looking for family-friendly activities in York or anytime if you want something different to do with family and friends!

And obviously, you can’t visit without treating yourself to a Catpuccino first. Trust me on that one!

Fancy giving fluid art a go?

A drink AND gelato or cake for £5 at one of York’s most loved gelato spots? Yes please!

📍Roberto Authentic Italian Gelato, 3 Goodramgate, York @robertogelato

As part of @yorkrestaurantweek we popped into the legendary Roberto Authentic Italian Gelato to try their offer, and we were seriously impressed.

You can enjoy a drink paired with a gelato or slice of cake for just £5! But you need to be quick, because the offer only runs until this Sunday, 18th October.

We claimed an offer each. And went for pistachio gelato (because it may be October, but it’s NEVER too cold for ice cream, am I right? 😂), alongside a beautiful slice of pumpkin spice cake.

For drinks, we chose a caramel latte and a hot chocolate, and both arrived with the sweetest little accompaniment: a mini scoop of vanilla gelato 🤩

Such a classy touch, and absolutely delicious.

If you’re looking for a little autumn treat I would highly recommend adding @robertogelato to your must visit list.

I think we’ve just found one of the best Italian restaurants York has to offer! And I’m already planning what I’m ordering next time. 🇮🇹❤️

📍Enoteca by L’uva, 5 Bridge Street, York @enoteca_luva *invite/gifted

We visited Enoteca by L’uva and from the rustic, romantic setting to the food, wine and lovely atmosphere, it was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in York.

Exposed brickwork, beautiful hand-picked wines on display and all the Italian charm you could want.

We started with the Tuscan Ribs and Wings, followed by the Rigatoni al Pomodoro and Rigatoni alle Verdure. Both delicious, naturally accompanied by what can only be described as never enough freshly grated Parmesan. I have no self control with Parmesan.

Even the house wine was just stunning.

But the dessert deserves its own moment…

If you’ve followed my York food adventures for a while, you’ll know I’m still on the fence about Tiramisu. Well, Enoteca might have just fully converted me.

The Limone Mousse was a lovely finish, but that tiramisu? Hands down the best I’ve ever had. So creamy, with the liqueur ratio absolutely spot on. I genuinely could have ordered another one there and then. No hesitation. 😂

We’d already planned our next visit with the team before we left, which probably tells you everything you need to know.

New favourite unlocked for The York Edition.

Have you tried Enoteca by L’uva yet?

So we have had some cracking food in York this week for @yorkrestaurantweek 🤤 But I wasn’t expecting to find this Northern gem of a delicacy this far south during our food coma tour!

📍Tomahawk Steakhouse, 26 Lendal, York @tomahawk_york

Yes I know York is not in the south before my fellow proud Yorkshire folk come for me.

But when it comes to a “Parmo” the closet to Yorkshire you usually find them is UTB (Middlesbrough)!

So when celebrating a birthday this week and we found Tomahawk York in the great list of venues, we had to give our born and bred boro lad a chance to sample a proper Parmo in York!

The verdict? Finally somewhere in York that understands bechamel sauce goes on Chicken Parmesan NOT tomato based sauces 🙌🙌🙌

And the cookie dough was to die for! Overall a great spot in York. And the best bit is you can find Tomahawk all around the country! Chicken Parmos for everyone 🤣 by @theyorkedition

So this is how we kicked off our @yorkrestaurantweek adventures!

📍Dough Eyed, 7 Jubbergate, York (Shambles market area) @dough_eyed

So Dough Eyed has been on our list literally from day 1 of The York Edition! And now we have actually made it there, I can only apologise to Adam and the team and to all our followers that we didn’t go check it out sooner.

We have been seriously missing out. Hands down the best pizza in York ever! We shared a SPICY SPIANATA! And it was on another level.

We got to watch Adam make the magic happen and seeing the from scratch fresh produce used, and then the cooking of the pizza. It then made total sense why we have never had a pizza like it.

Could not recommend more if you are in York City Centre. And with the current @yorkrestaurantweek deals it would be silly not to. Available until 18th October 🙌

Oh and…. I bet you thought I was going to ask if pineapple belongs on a pizza!! I would never ask that because we all know the answer to that one 🤔

So tell me in the comments. What is the correct way to eat a pizza? 😎

How have I only just discovered @brewdccc ?! 😭

📍Brew’d, York Designer Outlet *gifted

We are over at @designeroutletyork quite a lot and shopping is hungry work, so naturally we always end up grabbing something to eat.

Well the “what shall we get, what do you fancy?” dilemma has been put to bed forever! I’ve found my place 🫶

Brew’d opened back in February and I am gutted it’s taken me this long to find it. This could be one of the best lunch spots in York!

We went for the pulled chicken sandwich, a Maltesers pastry, a sticky toffee latte and a banana bread matcha! And wow, everything was unreal.

They use local produce and you can really tell in the quality. Everything was so good that I was genuinely planning my next visit whilst editing this reel.

Safe to say, the loyalty card they handed me is about to get some serious action.

York Designer Outlet, I think I’ve found my new retail therapy ritual. 🤎

And we also spotted their little @yorkghostmerchants ghosts up on the shelf 😍

Countless York adventures, a ridiculous amount of food and more memories than I ever expected to make in just six months when I randomly started all this!

What started as a little idea to share the places I love in York whilst building a little portfolio for my social media business has turned into something so special for me and I genuinely feel so lucky.

Thank you to everyone iv met along the way. Truly.

Thank you for following, liking, sharing, saving, commenting, sending me recommendations, taking me to places I’d never have found and coming along for the ride.

Thank you to all the brilliant York businesses who have welcomed me through their doors and trusted me to share what they do.

It’s been one hell of a summer 🫶 but now?

Bring on the chilly months. 🍂☕️

Fish and chips on the River Ouse? Now that’s a very Yorkshire way to spend an afternoon!

📍@citycruisesuk Kings Staith, York *invite/gifted

We headed out on the @citycruisesuk York Fish & Chip Cruise at the weekend and what a lovely way to see the city it was.

You get a proper Yorkshire fish and chips whilst cruising along the River Ouse and taking in a completely different view of York.

There’s also a bar on board, so naturally we paired our chippy with a glass of Prosecco as you do 😂🥂

The cruise also shares stories and facts about York’s history, including things that even people who live here might not know.

And I think that’s what I loved about it the most, you don’t have to be a visitor to enjoy it. Whether you’re spending the day in York or you’ve called the city home for years, it’s a really lovely way to learn a little more about the place whilst enjoying a good old chippy tea.

We also spotted one of @the_york_bid ghosts which you will have to take to the river to get a good look at 🙌

Fancy a fish and chips on the River Ouse?

I finally made it over to @risebrunch second York brunch spot and its just too cute 🥹

Right opposite York Museum Gardens, it’s the perfect little spot to grab brunch and sit back and watch the world go by.

And the food? Obviously ridiculously delicious. It’s Team Rise, so before even leaving the house we already knew we were going to be in for a treat.

You can sit in and enjoy the space or grab your food to take away and head straight over to Museum Gardens for a picnic! Which, and maybe I’m biased, just might just be the most beautiful place to picnic! So lucky to live in this city 🥰

If you’re looking for brunch in York, add this one to your list.

Have you been to Rise’s second York spot yet?
