“True Peace and False”, the new photobook by Thiago Dezan @thiagodezan, is now available from Artphilein Editions.

Developed over several years across the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Bolivia, Italy, and France, the project explores the fragile boundaries between survival, faith, abandonment, and resilience.

Moving through streets, squats, abandoned buildings, and other precarious spaces, Dezan turns his attention to people living at the margins, confronting violence, exclusion, and neglect while also revealing moments of care, dignity, and faith.

Through more than one hundred photographs, “True Peace and False” reflects on what society chooses to see — and what it prefers to ignore.

The project was developed in collaboration with @artnoble_gallery

It’s interesting (even tho a bit cumbersome) to carry 2 cameras and film while taking photographs, to later see the moment those photos were formed in front of the lens. This day I was walking the walls of a prison in the north of Brazil and talking to some inmates who we wouldn’t be able to access otherwise.
