Well, the old girl did good. 💙🏆

Yesterday I brought Sally to the PCA UCR 50th Anniversary Concours d’Elegance at Porsche Experience Centre Toronto and entered her in the Show & Shine.

I thought she had a good chance of placing well — she’s a special car and I knew how good she could look — but I didn’t put much energy into thinking about winning. I really just wanted to get her there looking "wowow" and enjoy the day.

She came home first in her class.

And what a fucking great day it was.

One of my favourite parts was watching people spend time with the car. More than a few people were surprised to learn just how much of Sally’s unusual interior was factory. The painted seat backs, Cobalt Blue interior pieces, blue gauges and vent slats, full leather and all the other wonderfully unnecessary options somebody chose when ordering this car in 2004 are a huge part of what makes her special.

A massive thank you to JP @jpsfineauto for the work he’s put into Sally. The depth and pop in this Cobalt Blue paint now is ridiculous, and having her looking like this yesterday had a whole lot to do with the time, knowledge and care he’s put into her.

Also a big thank you to Otto Guys @ottoguys.ca . I’ve been using their products on Sally and they were a big part of getting her show-ready. Great products from great people, and I’m genuinely happy to support them.

And then there are the people.

I have met so many genuinely great humans through these wonderful cars. Friends showing up, helping each other, wandering around looking at cars, geeking out over tiny Porsche details, taking pictures, laughing our asses off and being legitimately excited when somebody else’s car does well.

That’s the good stuff.

Huge congratulations as well to Adam @adamj.ivers , who won his Concours class and Judges’ Choice with his beautiful 964. And thank you for all the advice leading into the show.

He has now offered to help me prepare Sally for Concours.

Considering 24 hours earlier I was saying “ummmm no, I’m not taking wheels off to clean underneath this thing,” this seems potentially dangerous. 😂

For now:

First Place — Show & Shine.
