Doing some summer reading, starting off with a classic.

Definitely need to slow this part down and play with a met but I'm happy with the progress I've made on the first movement. Very excited to be able to play the whole concerto this summer. #tuba #tubasolo #rtr #tuba🔛🔝 by @thigh_tuba

My favorite Blazhevich on my poor neglected C tuba (F is just too fun)

On a real note though, my C broke a couple weeks ago and I couldn't play it for a while so all I did was play F and I had forgotten how to play C (right before my jury). I figured it out though and the muscle memory came back so my jury went well in the end. #tuba

New tuba!! About 3 weeks ago I bought myself a Meinl Weston 45SLP F tuba from @ngb.brassofficial !! I am super pumped to really shed some repertoire now that jurys are over, and I am very grateful to now have two amazing tubas at my disposal. #tuba #rtr #tuba🔛🔝 taken in Moody Music Building by @thigh_tuba

Pure Imagination🎶🎶!! Use Headphones!!

After a long practice session, the best thing you can do is rewind with some beautiful music.

When we study music, it can start to feel like a chore instead of an outlet. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves why we fell in love with it in the first place—and sometimes that reminder is just playing something really pretty.

For me, it’s always been about chasing the next goal, and right now, I’m doing okay with that. But failure is inevitable. When it happens, I try to look at all the different sides of it—because inside every failure, there’s a lot of success too. That’s the part worth holding onto.

Some pics from the semester and some clips from the Huxford Concert.

I'm so happy I was able to have the opportunity to play in huxford this semester, the best way to get better is to perform with people better than you.

It's crazy to think that just this year in February, I was playing the same same symphony on the same stage just with a different orchestra, it's a pretty crazy feeling to be in the same orchestra that I watched less than a year ago.

I love Alabama!! I love the competition that this school brings.
There is no guarantee that I'll be in huxford next semester, This just means that I'll have to continue to work hard every day and try my best. I love the culture of this studio, always pushing each other to be the best we can be.

Thank you to everyone that has helped me find my way this semester and I can't wait for the next one. #tuba #tuba🔛🔝

My "solo" in March Slave.

I'm pretty happy with how this performance went, I love it when composers give the opportunity for tuba to have a melody moment. When we get these moments it's so satisfying to be able to play out and be heard. #tuba #tuba🔛🔝 #tubasolo taken in Moody Music Building by @thigh_tuba

First college post!!!

I'm so happy I'm a music major, it's just so nice to actually study what I enjoy, not to mention I can just come in at 1am and practice.

This is the first half of Snedecor IV, definitely could use some work on phrasing, breathing, and those pedals but I'm happy with the progress I'm making on it.

I'm really working on my range this semester and I think this book will be great for that, the hard part for me will just be to extend my high range but hopefully by next semester I'll be more confident in that area.

I love Alabama!! Roll Tide!!! #rtr #tuba #sleep by @thigh_tuba

I had great time!!! Randall Standridge was so cool!! Definitely not what I expected from him, but awesome nonetheless! I’m gonna miss highschool honor bands but this one was a good one to go out on. #allstate #byeforever

The finale of the finale. This is a snippet of the Pelham Wind ensemble’s electric performance of Tchaikovsky‘s 2nd Symphony. This definitely rivals his 4th even with it being the wind band version. Come and see it live at THS on Monday at 645pm!

I posted the full recording along with the other songs we played on my YT - https://youtu.be/E0_7dSZB_y4?si=ocxp0_hSqgTnPcuW taken in UAB's Alys Stephens Center by @thigh_tuba

Senior district is finished!

Definitely a unique experience I’ll never forget, (never had to play a E above the staff and a pedal C in the same song) I have to say these two days have given me some great memories! Even hung out with Thompson kids #ew

I have two more concerts in the month of February but thankfully this is my last one on a weekend. Ready for Allstate in April!

I posted some fun clips and ofc the traditional tuba section pics (sorry yall had to lift me up) bye bye district forever ☹️ by @thigh_tuba
