Seems a local critter took a liking to me when we visited the Botanical Gardens on Friday!

I’ve a small bite on my foot, which has swollen to resemble a trotter (bearing in mind the heat is making my feet swell anyway - I now have my granny’s ankles as well as my grandad’s chin). As the swelling was rising up my ankle and it was itching something fierce first visit today was the pharmacy . .

That was after waking at 10am with a start; the alarm had not gone off and breakfast finishes at 10.30! Not an auspicious start!

Took the day slowly and spent some time with my foot raised; race tonight starts at 8pm. I’m really not a night owl so we have made sure the alarm is set for tomorrow as we have to check out . . . .

A fabulous lunch at a plant based restaurant called Whole Earth, then to the circuit.

A chance to wear my new hat from @peterforsonhatshop with a dress from the summer from @zara. Glasses @vinylizeeyewear sunglasses @olivergoldsmithspectacles

Anyway, going to be at the circuit until well into the evening currently enjoying a set by Ezra Collective.

A few spots of rain so far - will it suppress the pollution, temperature and humidity? Unlikely!!

Singapore is swathed in second hand pollution from fires burning (set deliberately and otherwise) by a neighbour. Rude. So the spectacular views are considerably less so!

We had a city tour this morning that the Official Photographer organised. We have done them before in Bahrain, Baku and Indianapolis and they’re a great introduction to a place when time is limited. Sadly the views from Faber Peak just weren’t . . .

Then we took a walk around the Botanical Gardens - I’m very fond of Birmingham’s Botanical Gardens but they are seriously dwarves by Singapore’s which are too amazing. If you get the chance visit them, it’s worth suffering the heat and humidity!

First day out and about - and a tiny bit of retail!

Of course Raffles Hotel Long Bar, complete with peanut shells on the floor was on the agenda. Non alcoholic version of the Singapore Sling for me.

The contrast between the aircon everywhere and the high humidity and temperature is breathtaking. The MRT (tube to us) is super impressive. Trying not to step out of line and incur a fine . .

We fly this evening so we took a walk to try and shake of some of the pre flight and packing stresses!

The Tory conference is in town so huge security operation as you can imagine. Who knew we had so many police . . .

Dressed for the flight, I loved these @adidas barrel leg Firebird track pants so much in black I bought the orange too - I’d have preferred red but these will do fine and for a 12 hour flight comfort is all! Cannot say I’m looking forward to it, I am not a happy flier.

All packed and ready to go.

New washing machine arrived this morning, and with it (as @georgia_goes_grey would say) a lesson!

The two men who installed it arrived just after 7.30 this morning, as promised and were cheerful and entertaining; one was an ex armed office with the police so he had tales to tell . . .

Anyway; I digress. The lesson.

We have all heard that grisly boiling a frog tale, haven’t we? How the slow change for the worst in our circumstances takes us unawares?

We can’t believe how quiet this new machine is; our last one probably was too - but over many months we had become accustomed to the appalling noise it made as if it were normal. How many of our experiences in life are like this? The way others treat us, those who claim they love us, can slowly get more abusive incrementally over time, so slowly we don’t notice as it becomes the norm.

Been there - always said I’d never tolerate it again and I’ve given the washing machine a stern warning; we won’t tolerate the same torture we had from the previous!

Life makes great demands of us.

On top are these are the demands that we place upon ourselves!!

I know I do - I see no reason why I should be any less at 69 than I was at 29 . . . .

But, long hours, physical exercise, intellectual challenges - it’s no wonder we can get overwhelmed sometimes.

Why not give yourself a helping hand?

You demand peak performance of yourself and now here’s the PERFORMANCE boost you need!

Our washing machine has become very noisy - a bearing has gone. Two weeks ago an “engineer” came@out - two man job can’t do it.

Because we were away booked in for yesterday.

No one turned up - oh, he tried to contact you as it’s all permit parking. Er no, we stayed in and no one tried to make contact at all. My mild mannered husband actually swore on the phone!!

Last night I dreamt the drum stopped turning in the machine. Guess what. Sure enough with all the holiday laundry to do the drum HAS stopped turning. Why can’t I dream a lottery win!!!!

Next available appointment in two weeks. No choice but to buy a new machine. Absolutely furious with Hoover non- customer service!

Why is it so hard to get a job done properly these days??

Honestly - I’m too busy to post but had to send these to someone and they made me smile!

Also slightly shocked at how many pairs of glasses I have; I had an eye test this morning and the change in my eyes isn’t so great that I need to change my glasses - which is just as well I’d have to wait for a lottery win 🤦‍♀️ by @thin_latin_moose
