Waiting for a baby for almost five years doesn’t prepare you for when the baby does come and you’re thrown into the most amazing, hard, funny, exhausting, and traumatic chaos of your life. You don’t expect to look down at your perfect baby and have the scariest thoughts. You don’t expect to be prescribed a blue little pill to make those thoughts go away. There is so much I never expected. Despite it all I’m thankful for a friend who texted my husband telling him I needed a hotel stay for the weekend. A mom who answered the phone to hysterical crying and booked a flight. A sister who stopped her day to come take the baby from me. A husband who is new to all this too and cared for our daughter so I could get a much needed break. A mother in law who answered the phone at 6am and drove right over so I could sleep. Friends who also suffered from PPD and intrusive thoughts who encouraged me. Therapists who let me talk and cry. A doctor’s office that got me in right away and took care of me. A church community that checked in often and came over just so I wouldn’t have to be alone.

So much to be thankful for 🤍

Things Babies Lied About coming Winter 2026 ❄️

I started this account at what would be the start of years of unexplained infertility. I found myself in such a deep state of grief for so long and this place helped me feel like myself, have fun, and “forget” even if just for a few hours a day. Offline I was working with doctors, counselors, and wrestling with God on what growing a family would look like. I’m grateful for those very hard years and it’s not just because the wait is finally over. God used them to change my heart and mind to so many things that would not have been possible otherwise. Waiting is not without purpose, I can promise you that.

If you’re still waiting I’d love to share this quote from CS Lewis that I often went back to on the days when I was angry and didn’t understand why this had to be my story:

“The hall is a place to wait in, a place from which to try the various doors, not a place to live in. For that purpose the worst of the rooms (whichever that may be) is, I think, preferable. It is true that some people may find they have to wait in the hall for a considerable time, while others feel certain almost at once which door they must knock at. I do not know why there is this difference, but I am sure God keeps no one waiting unless He sees that it is good for him to wait. When you do get into your room you will find that the long wait has done you some kind of good which you would not have had otherwise. But you must regard it as waiting, not as camping. You must keep on praying for light.”

The @abbeyyung Hair Routine That Transformed My Hair

Step 1: Pre-Shampoo
@epresbeauty saturated on dry hair for 10 minutes. This was the first Abbey recommendation I started with. If I have more time that day, after the 10 minutes I’ll add either the @rozhair Willow Glen oil or @ogx_beauty Coconut Oil Mist onto the saturated hair and let sit for 20-30 mins under a shower cap.

Step 2: Shampoo
1 time a week (always after oiling) I’ll clarify with @pantene. A year ago I wouldn’t believe you if you told me this 🤣 On non clarifying days I will use the @dove Intensive Repair. One thing Abbey has taught me is to WASH MORE. I now wash 3 times a week and my hair and scalp is so much better. The growth alone is testament to this.

Step 3: In-Shower Treatment
If I have enough time I’ll use the @redkenpro Acidic Bonding Concentrate. Abbey has other drugstore alternatives for this step in her videos.

Step 4: Conditioner
I always thought because my hair was so damaged and dry I needed to use masks, but switching to just conditioner has made such a huge difference for my fine hair. I am loving the Pantene Miracle Rescue.

Step 5: Leave-In
Having curly hair means a leave in is a non-negotiable. I love @pureology’s Colorfanatic. No matter how much I use it never weighs my hair down. I thought to heal my hair I would have to give up heat. Not with Abbey’s method! I still use heat multiple times a week, but my lengths are now finally even in thickness from root to bottom! Can’t wait to see how much longer I can grow my hair now.

Step 6: Oil
Finishing step and what I use before bed to keep my hair soft and semi-protected. The Roz Santa Lucia is my favorite. My hair drinks it up even if I go a little heavy handed. I’ve gotten into the habit of running a pump in my hair multiple times a day when I go to the bathroom as a touch up. A game changer for me!

Ask any questions below, but most importantly WATCH and FOLLOW @abbeyyung on her YouTube and IG. She is a wealth of knowledge and I’m so grateful to have found her method. I finally have my hair back after years or breakage and “clean” products not thoroughly cleaning or protecting my hair. by @thingsbloggersliedabout

The 3-minute makeup routine I can’t stop doing and I know it’s 3 minutes because I filmed it for a potential reel, but I looked so pissed and tired that the footage will never see the light of day.

Vivrelle Luxury Handbag and Jewelry Subscription ($139-339/month depending on tier selected) *GIFTED*

I’ve been a fashion subscriber for years via Rent the Runway, so I’m well acquainted with the business model and wearing and using pre-loved items. A handful of my clothes I actually bought via my subscription and I love that through the service I can try trendy items or wear things I’d never buy.

When Vivrelle reached out to gift me a subscription, I immediately said yes. RTR is great for clothes, but I don’t like to waste spots in my subscription with handbags and accessories….and I’m rarely impressed with their selection. Vivrelle specializes in high end designers like Hermes, Goyard, Chanel, etc. These handbags and jewels are items with very very hefty price tags and not items the average person splurges on regularly (or ever!).

I liken Vivrelle to borrowing from your financially irresponsible, but fabulously dressed friend. Their selection is endless and their items are well taken care of despite being used by many before you. My first bag of choice was the Hermes Garden Party. I fell in love with this bag and kept it for two months! I was very close to asking Vivrelle what the buyout price was for this one, but I think I’d want one size bigger if I were to make the big purchase. My second was this very fun raffia Fendi Baguette. It was my farewell to summer bag. The Fendi was the perfect example of why this subscription rocks. I’d never spend $4k+ on a woven bag with minimal leather. Keeping it for a few weeks was fun, scratched my itch for a trendy item, and now I’m waiting for my next bag.

Sending your bag back is extremely easy, inside the box is your return label and dust bag. You can keep an item for as long as you like and when you’re ready you just pack it back up, slap on the label, and drop it off at UPS.

They have a variety of tiers that give you 1-2 items per month with the most expensive tiers giving you access to much more exclusive bags (Birkins and the like). Between you and me, I’m liking this service even more than RTR 🤫

In lieu of a thorough review of one product here’s 5 fast reviews of products I’ve used this week!

Do NOT reply “LINK” because I don’t have Manychat 🙃 If you would like the links, head to the link in my bio to my @shopmy page.

How do you actually feel about the “comment X for links”? I’m not opposed, but don’t see myself using a service like that until they actually only send you a DM when you comment the word provided and not just when you comment anything. taken in Denver, Colorado by @thingsbloggersliedabout

When I decided to share my face on this account after posting about my postpartum depression, it felt right. Vulnerability meant for more vulnerability. In that same vein, I have more to share.

One month ago I started spotting. My period was expected that week so I didn’t think much of it. A week of spotting went by and still no period. My mind went to implantation bleeding which I had experienced with Kelly. 3 days of negative tests I decided to wait and see. Finally my period came. It was heavier, crampier, and just different. I chalked it up to postpartum hormones even though my previous postpartum periods had been easy and normal, but something didn’t feel right. The bleeding wasn’t getting lighter and wasn’t stopping. My temp on my Oura was still elevated. I had one final test at home. It was positive before I even put the cap back on. As expected, I was freaking out, called my doctor, and assumed I was miscarrying.

Sunday comes and I’m still bleeding and feeling light headed. We head to the ER to be safe. After many hours, blood work, and a very uncomfortable transvaginal ultrasound I’m told the one thing I didn’t want to hear. It’s an ectopic pregnancy. The gestational sac is small and my HCG is very low which made me a good candidate for the M shot. Two shots in my butt later I’m driving back home to my baby while the other baby inside me is supposedly ending.

In my follow up blood work over the next week, my HCG is lowering but not as quickly as expected with the shot. Another transvaginal ultrasound is performed. There’s nothing in my right tube anymore and instead there is a gestational sac and yolk sac in my uterus. WHAT?!

A few more days later I get another HCG check and ultrasound. HCG is lowering slowly, but the sac grew. How is this happening?! I’m now prescribed supplements and other hormones to see if this pregnancy becomes viable for a baby that was exposed to a chemotherapy drug that has an almost guarantee of causing defects or death.

Everyday this past week I’ve been sitting on the edge of a cliff waiting to see what’s going to push me off. A miscarriage? A child with life long defects or post birth death? Or a miracle? (Swipe)
