This post may be a little longer than usual.

I take a lot of images of my son Arlo, mainly because I spend a lot of time with him, and also because his sister is at that age where she hates me posting anything of her anymore. A teenager.

Arlo has a really rare genetic condition called Prader-Willi syndrome, and also has severe autism and ADHD.

It’s taken a long time to find something that he properly loves, that he’s into, and wants to be part of.

Match days are a mix of total joy for him and a constant array of unforeseen issues and anxieties. Anything from his favourite players not playing, John McGinn yesterday, to not being able to have our pre-match drink with my cousin. All can, and do, end in a huge screaming match, which only time can settle.

From people looking on with annoyance, to amazing stewards who have the time and patience to answer his 101 questions about, “When will the team bus arrive?”

It’s something we can do together. Something that gives him a focus.

Yesterday was our last game of the season, and hopefully there are many more to come.

The only thing he’s requested now is to meet all the players, so there’s my next task.

“We’ll score one more than you”, I think is the chant.
