Girlfriends / Girlfriends (reverse)
/528
One of my fastest purchases ever. I opened Instagram at work and saw this at the top of my feed and couldn’t was in disbelief, I checked out so fast that I shipped this to the wrong address. I finally was able to pick up copy and I am beyond excited to finally own this incredible album. These songs mean so much to me, this is hands down one of my favorite albums of all time. It’s mind blowing that this is all done by Jerry Joiner alone, he’s so talented and I hope he releases more music someday, no matter what project it’s under. Also these pressings turned out gorgeous.

in case of capture by gavin m
/200
For such a short tape, this one sees a lot of use from me so I’m surprised I haven’t shared it yet. It’s hard to pick a favorite gavin m project but I sure come back to this one a lot. These three songs come out to only around four minutes but man they have such a nice sound and I could listen over and over.

Apiary/Our Skies Smile by Gingerbee
Hazy bloom 10/200
This is such a beautiful pressing, I couldn’t resist picking one up. Gingerbee is truly a one of a kind band, and although I’m very sad to see the project come to an end, these two eps have already left their mark. There’s not much to say about this band that hasn’t been said already, but I’m happy to see the band get the recognition they deserve. The last concert in Chicago looked incredible, I wish I could’ve gone.

Transportation + Communication = Love by Figurine
Third pressing
I’ve been so hooked on this album lately, I’m super excited to have been able to pick up a copy. I absolutely adore the dual vocals from this band and their interesting electronic style blends it all together into an incredible atmosphere. This band is clearly a huge influence for a lot of the modern electronic projects as of late, and although I love a lot of those as well, I don’t think any will capture what this band had. I would love to track down an earlier release of this album, but I do love this clean jewel case and the wrap around artwork.

everything forever by the sweater i gave you
12/16
I still can’t believe that the sweater i gave you finally got a physical release. Daylily arboretum once again went all out with this one and the tapes turned out beautifully. Getting a tape for tsigy is already a blessing, but I’m obsessed with how these came out. The tape is a compilation of everything the sweater I gave you put out as well as several previously unreleased tracks. I already loved everything they’ve put out, but the unreleased songs really cemented the sweater I gave you as one of my favorite artists from their scene. Some of those songs were taken from a scrapped project with r.l. kelly which is so cool, I had no idea they collabed but I had those songs nonstop when this tape dropped. Everything about this release feels catered to me and the timing was perfect; I’ve had thus tape on repeat since I got it and I don’t plan to stop any time soon.

Seven Ate Nine by b7lanket
/??
This is probably my favorite release of the year so far. When this came out I listened to it on repeat but regretfully missed out on the first run of CDs. I’m glad I held off because this second run has a full lyric booklet that I’m obsessed with. I would post every page but there’s digital uploads on the b7lanket instagram. This is such a fun and unique album, I wish more music sounded like this but I could listen to this album forever.

Doctor! Doctor! This City’s Sick! by The Hue of Two
91/150
This reissue took a long time to come together but wow it was certainly worth the wait. Milkcrate and the band did an incredible job making this release just like the original cd, down to the fabric sleeve and X-rays. The packaging for this record is exceptional and the inserts are great, the photo booklet is dense and has lots of cool band photos. I’m glad this release got the appreciation it deserves, it’s a great ep and so much work was put into these records.

Fade into Nothing by pill friends
/17
Never thought I’d see new pill friends physical releases in the big 26. This was a huge surprise for me but I’m so excited that it happened and I was able to snag one. So grateful to daylily arboretum for putting these out, it would be great to see some more pill friends tapes but I’m very content with this.

Pocket Symphonies for Lonesome Subway Cars by Casiotone for the Painfully Alone
This record has been a necessity for me for a while now and I finally found a copy in nice condition for a reasonable price. The first two cftpa albums mean so much to me and I could listen to them endlessly, I’m thrilled to add this to my collection. These early cftpa releases sound super cozy on vinyl, although I wish they had gotten a cassette release as well.

Waste yrself/DC snuff film by teen suicide
Blue /100
Holy shit I can’t believe I finally own this. This is one of my favorite releases of all time and I’m so excited to own an original copy. I bought one of these like a year ago but when it came it was one of the run for cover represses. I was super pissed obviously but I’m extra glad to have finally secured one of these for my collection. I was a tad disappointed that this version does have the acoustic two dead swans and not the incredible full band recording but this tape still means the world to me. Teen suicide is such an important band to me and I’m really happy with how my Sam ray collection is coming along. Now I just need that hymns lathe… one day.

Worlds Fastest Car by Othiel
Special edition 1/25
Othiel is one of the best screamo bands from California that hasn’t broken up yet. I was bummed I passed on the zbr cd of this album when it dropped but it was worth the wait to get this release. This special edition has so much care put into it and I love all the detail and inserts. I hope to catch this band live again soon, it’s been a while since I’ve seen them.
