The first to attempt to cross Antarctica coast-to-coast, Shackleton failed to achieve his goal, but the events that transpired form one of history’s greatest stories of survival. In this immersive VR experience, produced by award-winning studio Monkeystack, you can follow in Shackleton's footsteps with adventurer Tim Jarvis AM and also witness the effect climate change has had on the Antarctic region over the last 100 years. Thin Ice VR opens this week on Saturday, 6 July, at the Australian Museum. Book your spot now. See link in bio. by @thinicevr
100 years ago, Shackleton’s goal was to save his men from the ice. Today it is the ice that needs saving from us. - @timjarvisam. Photographer – @milesrowlandacs #ThinIceVR #SouthGeorgia by @thinicevr
“An adventurer who never chooses the easy road” - the @australianmuseum’s description of @timjarvisam couldn’t be closer to the truth! Read the exclusive interview with Tim in @fiftyplus.sa, online and print, where he talks of his work as an environmental scientist, trips to Antarctica, Shackleton and Thin Ice VR. #antarctica #shackleton #virtualreality #documentary ・・・ Tim Jarvis AM is a man of many titles. These include explorer, writer, speaker, filmmaker, and passionate environmental advocate, and now the 2024 Australian of the Year for South Australia 🌳 Tim Jarvis has been been described by the Australian Museum as an adventurer who never chooses the easy road. Some have been icy cold, in fact. Tim has recreated several Antarctic expeditions without the benefit of modern technology and says they taught him plenty of transferable lessons for tackling global issues like climate change. He’s putting some of them into practice right here in SA. Read our exclusive interview via the link in bio. by @thinicevr
