The U.S. Sustainability Alliance (USSA) is pleased to support the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) at the second From Seeds to Foods event, showcasing innovative and sustainable agricultural practices that contribute to global food security.

The United States has a long history of developing agricultural technologies and efficient production methods that help farmers improve productivity, manage natural resources responsibly and build resilience for the future.

Through research, innovation and a commitment to continuous improvement, U.S. producers are helping demonstrate how sustainability and food production can work hand in hand.

We’re proud to have representatives from three USSA member organizations attending the event, sharing their expertise and highlighting the importance of collaboration in building more resilient global food systems:

Ryan Olsen - Director of Trade Policy, U.S. Wheat Associates

Karah Janevicius - Director of Trade Policy, USA Rice

Julie Jenkins - Senior Account Director, California Prune Board (International Office)

You’ll also spot Jennifer Wilson and Tim Lewis from the USSA team at the event, connecting with members and sharing insights into the sustainability practices shaping U.S. agriculture.

Follow along as we share more from the event and highlight the people, products and practices helping shape the future of global food security.

What a great day in Harrisburg! We teamed up with USA Rice to host the inaugural Arkansas Rice in Schools Conference at the Northeast Rice Research and Extension Center, bringing together school nutrition professionals, teachers, and administrators from across the state.

The conference provided an opportunity to share resources, discuss ways to increase the use of Arkansas-grown rice in our schools, and connect school leaders directly with rice producers.

A special thank you to Robin and Tim Ralston, Jennifer James, Scott Matthews, and David Gairhan for participating in our producer panel and sharing their experience and insights with attendees.

We’re excited to build on the success of Arkansas Rice in Schools and continue connecting Arkansas schools with Arkansas-grown rice throughout the coming school year! by @think_rice

#ad It’s #trendingtuesday and @alexawhatsfordinner is making a Chicken Caesar Crispy Rice Salad with aromatic U.S.-grown jasmine rice to celebrate National Rice Month with @think_rice 🥗

Get the recipe below or comment ‘RECIPE’ to have the details sent to your DMs.

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup uncooked U.S.-grown jasmine rice
Extra virgin olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp anchovy paste
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 egg yolk
juice of 1 lemon
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Romaine lettuce, finely chopped
Rotisserie chicken or other cooked chicken, shredded or cubed
Red pepper flakes, for serving

RECIPE:
1. Heat oven to 425F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Cook the U.S.-grown jasmine rice according to package instructions. Pour the cooked rice on the baking sheet and add a hearty drizzle of olive oil. Evenly coat the rice and spread it out into a very thin layer on the baking sheet. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
3. Meanwhile, make the Caesar dressing. Add the minced garlic to a bowl. Add in the anchovy paste, Dijon mustard, egg yolk, lemon, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to mix, then drizzle in the olive oil while stirring, until a thick creamy dressing forms. Grate in some Parmesan cheese and mix.
4. Add the chopped romaine to a large salad bowl, plus the chicken pieces and the cooked crispy rice. Pour on the Caesar dressing and mix well. Top with more Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes. Serve and enjoy!

BROTHY RICE BOWL ✨ Be sure to follow @dietitiandebbie for more dietitian-approved plant-based recipes.

AD I’ve partnered with @think_rice to celebrate National Rice Month! These bowls are one of my favorites and the perfect base for them is U.S.-grown Calrose rice. This medium-grain rice has a soft, slightly sticky texture that is ideal for pairing with rice or broth like in these bowls. Feel free to customize these with whatever veggies and plant proteins you have on hand.

Full recipe below or comment RECIPE and I’ll DM you a printable version of the recipe. #NationalRiceMonth #ThinkRice

Brothy Rice Bowl
Makes 3 Bowls
Prep time: 15 Min
Cook time: 30 Min
For the Rice:
1 ½ cups Calrose rice
3 cups water

For the Broth:
1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable broth paste
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 green onions, thinly sliced
½ inch fresh ginger, peeled and grated
6 cups water

For the Bowl:
2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
1 (14 oz) package extra firm tofu, drained and cubed
1 large head broccoli, chopped into bite-sized pieces
4 oz. mixed mushroom medley, chopped
½ tablespoon reduced sodium soy sauce
Cilantro and chili crisp, to serve (optional)

Directions:
Add the Calrose rice and water to a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a simmer and cover. Cook for another 15 minutes or until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.
While the rice is cooking, add the broth ingredients to a dutch oven or stock pot on the stove over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and cook for 8-10 minutes.
Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
To the same skillet, add the other 1 tablespoon of olive and heat over medium-high heat for 1 minute. Add the broccoli and mushrooms and stir fry until tender, about 8-10 minutes. Turn off the heat and stir in the soy sauce.
To assemble the bowls, divide the rice between 3 bowls and top with the tofu and broccoli mixture. Spoon the broth over top. Garnish with chili crisp and fresh cilantro. by @think_rice

Here is a fun fact that might surprise you: roughly 95% of sushi made in the U.S. is made using rice grown right here in the States. If you've had a sushi roll stateside, you've had U.S.-grown rice. This mighty grain has been the homegrown foundation of American sushi all along! 🍣🌾
