Two CEOs. Same pressure.
Totally different outcomes.
Satya Nadella (Microsoft):
✓ Asked: "Would I want this for myself?"
✓ Eliminated toxic practices
✓ Result: $300B → $2.5T value

Elizabeth Holmes (Theranos):
✗ Asked: "How do I avoid failure?"
✗ Chose lies over truth
✗ Result: Criminal conviction

In our new book, we show why integrity under pressure isn't optional, it's how you build something that lasts.

One simple question before every decision: "Would I want this for myself in their context?" If not, redesign until yes. That's responsible leadership.

€1 BILLION LESSON:
International presence ≠ Global intelligence

Walmart's German disaster vs. Ghosn's Nissan turnaround

Same challenge: Lead in unfamiliar culture
Different approach: IMPOSE vs. INTEGRATE
Different result: €1B loss vs. Company saved

Because global leadership means creating EQUAL GROUND, not imposing your culture as default.

Are you thinking globally or just operating internationally? 👇

"Wells Fargo: Beautiful CSR reports + 2M fake accounts = 9 years rebuilding trust

AstraZeneca: 12-month ethics audit + structural changes = Values made REAL

The difference between PERFORMATIVE and REGENERATIVE sustainability?

About a decade of consequences.

Because performative eventually gets exposed.

Is your organization's sustainability REAL or DECLARED? 👇

My new book, co-authored with @agnieszka_rachwal_mueller, explores what responsible global leadership actually looks like—leaders who transform markets rather than abandoning them. The world needs a different kind of leader. Are you one of them?

Traditional leadership's answer to complexity: WITHDRAWAL. Responsible leadership's answer: TRANSFORMATION.

June 2025. PwC (Price Waterhouse Cooper) announces they're pulling out of 9 African countries.

"Their reason? High risk. Complex environment. Different regulations."

"In other words: Too hard. We're out."

"But here's what 20 years working across 50+ countries taught me..."

"The hard places are where transformation happens. But only if you STAY."

"Traditional leadership says: Exit when it's difficult.

Responsible global leadership says: Engage BECAUSE it's difficult."

"Stay long enough. Build capacity. Partner authentically. Transform systems."

"The world doesn't need more leaders who withdraw when it gets complex.

It needs leaders who stay, who build, who regenerate.

Are you one of them?"

After 20+ years across 50+ countries, I've learned the hard contexts are where real change happens—if you stay long enough.

My new book shares the framework.

What would you choose: withdraw or transform? 👇

One message, different cultural interpretation.

Christmas is coming, I came across this post on Instagram, it's the depiction of Jesus and Mary by different countries. When you look at these pictures, it struck me how different countries interpret the same message according to their culture.

I wonder what global institutions and companies could learn from this. How can you communicate the same message with a cultural contextualisation?

That's how my interview with two US grad students from LSE started yesterday. My response? "Are you supposed to introduce yourself first?" 😊

This simple exchange reveals so much about cultural differences in business:
🎯 TASK-ORIENTED cultures → Direct, efficient, results-focused
❤️ RELATIONSHIP-FOCUSED cultures → Connection first, business second

Neither is wrong. They're just different.
The students probably thought they were being efficient and respectful of my time. From my cultural lens, it felt a bit abrupt.

These misunderstandings happen every day in global business. Understanding them is key to building better connections.

Question for you:
Which approach feels more natural to you? Task or relationship first?

Flying Dubai → London, something struck me:
28 crew members
27 languages between them
Entertainment in 15 languages
This isn't just impressive logistics. This is what global vision actually looks like.

I realized:
Language = the door to culture
Language = instant connection
Language = psychological safety
Language = true belonging
Language = real inclusion

Most companies say they're "going global."
Few understand that global means genuinely multilingual.

When someone speaks your language, you're not just a customer anymore. You're home.
That's the difference between doing business globally and truly being global.

Question: When was the last time hearing your language in an unexpected place made you feel instantly comfortable? 👇

Old way:
Linear thinking ➡️ Linear solutions ➡️ Disappointing results
New way:
Systems thinking ➡️ Adaptive design ➡️ Emergent change
"We've been trying to fix parts of a system we don't understand. No wonder nothing sticks." — Workshop participant
THIS. 👆
Climate. Poverty. Health. Development.
All systems problems.
Can't solve them with reductionist thinking.
3 principles:
1️⃣ Programmes = hypotheses
2️⃣ Context = everything
3️⃣ Leadership = stewarding emergence
The future belongs to leaders who think in systems and design with humility.
I'm watching that future unfold in Dhaka.
Inspired. 🙏

Happy International Men's Day to every man and boy navigating this complex world with courage, vulnerability, and heart.

You don't have to have it all figured out.
You don't have to be invincible.
You ARE enough, exactly as you are.

Myth 2: Skills gap = team failure
Truth: Relationship gaps cause the breakdown.
