BLACK AUGUST 2026

Join the Black Alliance for Peace, Nashville City Wide Alliance as we kick off Black August with a film screening and discussion detailing the martial arts culture of the Black Community.

Producer Silas Shah of @thinmannventures will be joining us to show us his documentary entitled the “Grandmasters of New York” which details the underground hidden history of New York’s pioneering martial arts scene.

Black August is an annual commemoration to honor freedom fighters of the Black Liberation Movement. The core tents of Black August are Study, Fast, Train, & Fight! As we enter another season of Black August, join us as we highlight the resistance our ancestors engaged in.
