Yesterday was a reminder why Third Places matter.

Jaguar Restaurant in Coconut Grove has become much more than a restaurant. The artwork, colors, architecture, flavors, and music reflect its Mexican roots while celebrating the richness of Latin American culture. It is a place that feels warm, authentic, and welcoming from the moment you arrive.

Over the years, we have enjoyed countless lunches, dinners, and business meetings here. It has become a home away from home.

None of that happens by accident. It reflects ownership that has stayed true to its vision and a staff that consistently makes people feel welcome.

As a firm that believes that real estate is about more than buildings, Jaguar is a reminder that the best places create a genuine sense of belonging. They become part of the fabric of a neighborhood and part of the lives of the people who return again and again.

Preserving public spaces isn’t sentimental; it’s a strategic investment in civic life and #community resilience.

Sociologist Ray Oldenburg observed that America has likely lost nearly half of its casual gathering places since the mid-20th century—cafés, taverns, and corner stores that once supported the informal, socially binding interactions at the core of community life. Many disappeared through urban renewal, freeway expansion, and planning that overlooked the importance of cohesive neighborhoods.

Thoughtful #retail investment is a mechanism not only to preserve gathering places, but to help address real public health and social problems, including isolation, depression, crime, homelessness, and chronic disease, and ultimately to improve communities.
